"Excuse me, but it seems you at one point were supportive of a study into hydroxychloroquine"

said like 5 speakers after someone accused him of immediately being skeptical of the drug. They contradict themselves constantly, holy shit.

Cross posting from hangouts:

That fucker going after his salary, vacation and sick pay was one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen in American politics and I watched Clinton and Trump impeachments.

this NC guy Hudson though- how come I can tell to a high degree of accuracy what party a politician represents based on how deep set and beady their eyes are? There's a certain look that you see in lifelong fraternity bros - the ones who can't let that experience go- and he has it. I'd go one step further on that theory but it's irrational and offensive and unfair to the subjects.

And why is it okay to threaten witnesses on the stand with politically motivated investigations? Isn't that directly contrary to the whistleblower law?

these hearings badly need an impartial judge or arbiter and it's a disgrace they don't.

It comes down to the fact that there is no bottom for them. There will always be a net in the form of their party to go further and further down with no fucking care of anything.

Also, side note, I didn't know a Kennedy was in Congress and holy shit he looks like a Kennedy.

They're just saying how it was the right thing to do at the time and the administration was awesome for pushing it but Dems are evil for trying to block the doctors from getting it.

Obama admin did exactly that, which Trump dismantled or ignored.

the president obviously thinks there are literally closets in the Whitehouse that are supposed to be full of masks and ventilators. And when he says "shelves were bare" he means literally rows of empty mask shelves- but the weird detail is that he doesn't actually think they were empty- he thinks Obama left some shelves full of stuff and so he's lying about a thing that he's partially just wrongly imagining. The only part of the supply chain he seems to actually understand is the Mafia style interception of the State imports for graft and redistribution. And I suspect he thinks they hoarded the Obama "shelves" for personal use and political favors.

a day long deposition of Trump that just focused on basic questions of fact "how does a bill become law?" And "what does the Department of the Environment do?" And "what's a filibuster?" And describe the most basic nature of the Affordable Care act" and "how does real estate P&L work?" would be fascinating.

there's atheory that most natural born us citizens would fail the citizenship test (I suspect that might be true) but I genuinely wonder if Trump could get through The first challenge of Billy Madison.

perhaps, just perhaps, we shouldn't elect someone with absolutely no political experience or expertise to navigate the legendary bureaucracy that is the united stated government. Like, that's a common refrain from even republicans, there is too much "red tape." Ignoring the red tape doesn't work, it just means nothing happens.

For those out of the loop, can someone give me a brief background to this please?
Dr Bright was high up at the department of health and human services biomedical advanced research and development authority (the part of the US responsible for trying to find a vaccine or response to the virus), but trump cronies were above him. He said he went up the chain with information from CDC and other scientists regarding how to respond to the virus, but those recommendations were ignored. When he reported this up the chain of command, he was fired, so he filed a whistleblower complaint to inform the public that, purposefully, nothing is being done.

his claim is that the very top of the US response to the pandemic, are not qualified and actively ignoring important information for partisan reasons.

prepare to be infuriated. Because the republican responses are to the effect of "OK but why didn't you do anything about it???"

It's literally, Dr Bright: "The system is broken right now, nobody is listening." Republicans: "Why didn't you just use the system to get people to listen??"

word for word from Dr. Bright: "I told them, "we are in deep shit." And nobody listened."

"If you're ok with studying the effects of hydroxychloroquine in a limited, small study under close supervision, why did you disagree with wide spread use of the drug without any large study??? That's such a contradiction!!"

"Is it because the PRESIDENT is for it, that you were against it?"

holy. fucking. shit.

So bright wanted closed supervised trial of hydroxychloroquin, but admin wanted to release it to retail pharmacies without being supervised and that's when he became concerned.

no, that's exactly it. This is a trial on the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine. The guy who is accusing the response of being bogged down by partisian politics, are being accused by republicans of hating hydroxychloroquine because it was recommended by Trump. Like, showing exactly the shit he's talking about.

If they aren't asking him why he's too sick to work but can be here they're pretty much making it about the drug yes.

Speaking of questions about how a vaccine will be administered to the public, holy fucking shit on Stephen Hahn refusing to say that a vaccine would be available for free to everyone yesterday not being blasted from all corners. Asked three times, and he just kept not answering. "It'll be available." "Will it be available for free?" "It'll be available," "for free?" "I can't speak to how much it'll cost."

That's the head of the FDA!!

"when you have 15 people, and that 15 people within a couple of days will be down to 0, that's a pretty good job.

by march 10th, over 30,000 people had been diagnosed.

Yet the president said, "it'll just go away."

Today we have over 1.4 million cases.

Dr. Bright, what do you believe the effects statements by administrators have had on the spread of Covid-19?"

"i believe americans need to be told the truth. I believe the best scientific advice is being ignored. I believe by not telling the truth, regardless of where the infomation is coming from, people are not as prepared as they need to be. All these forewarnings and educational opportunities being ignored have had an impact on american lives."

"#1 what have we learned, #2 what do we need to do, #3 what can we do to mitigate the effects of Covid-19? It's clear the current administration has ignored information to take appropriate action regarding covid 19. We need a national testing strategy. We need to make them available to everyone who needs them. We wrote a letter to the leadership in the house and senate to impress the need for robust testing and tracing. Health care exports say we're woefully short of the 30 million tests per week we need to avert a second covid-19 outbreak. Dr. Bright, what are the immediate steps we need to ramp up testing capacity, and what targets do we need to hold them accountable for."

"What's interesting that gets lost about the types of test is that there are multiple types of test that are needed. There are tests to see if you have the virus, there are tests to see if you have antibodies. Confusion right now is about which tests we need to distribute to achieve our goals.

There are a lot of confusion about the tests. So first things, we need to educate about the types of tests we need. Then we need to distribute these tests. We need to clarify this for the american public. It's not just A TEST, it's LOTS of tests"

"Why have we struggled to ramp up testing, were there contingencies?"

"Part of the sturggle is we waited too late. We allowed many of our capabilities to be offshored. We have many capabliites in our country in the us, but if our supply chain is offshore, in a global need for supplies, it compromises our ability to provide these tests."

What happened here? I can't tune in at the moment.
Lady from Michigan or Illinois drew parallel to her specialty which was car manufacturing. And if an engineer found flaws they would be celebrated for bringing those findings to light. Because if flaws lead to death, heads would roll. Yet this administration are doing the exact opposite. And those specialist are being ignored, at the determent of our county.

Not to be mean to this guy, but he rambled too long before getting to his question. This questioning time is very important.
