I don't really have expectations, LiS was a bit of a flash in the pan. I also liked BtS, but this was in large parts due to the setting and characters from the original. To me what made LiS special was the sense of place that like an onion you were peeling layers and layers from. The time reversal mechanic that let you see different sides of the same characters you thought you knew, was instrumental to what made it cognitively engaging. I'm not sure another superpower really works here, as LiS2 showed. Maybe mind reading?

I want to feel in control of events. So many times in LiS2, the game gave me the option to do something clearly stupid. I refused, only for the game to do the stupid thing anyway, and it just made me roll my eyes at how contrived it was.

Early, minor, example from LiS2.
Kid brother: Can we take this random dog with us, please?
Me: No, we have $1 left, I can barely afford to feed the two of us, why would we need the added burden of a stray dog?
Game: Kid brother gets dog anyway.
....
Oh kid brother wants the dog to be let out even though its wild bear country.
Me: This is clearly dangerous
Game: Kid brother lets dog out anyway, dog gets eaten by a wild bear. Who could possibly see that coming?
Please cry now the dog that you never wanted to take in and never wanted to take out is dead some 2 minutes after you met him.

I loved both LiS1 and 2. However, 2 lacked indie music so please, add more indie music! I'll be fine with anything else really.

Deck Nine developing makes me really excited, LiS2 was missing the magic that made the first game and BtS so unique and memorable.

I want it to be set in a small town so we can build up bounds with the NPCs just like the first one.

And I know this is unlikely, but can we skip the episodic thing and get into full release already?

So tired of waiting every time for the whole episodes to be out and for a physical release to play them as I HATE playing any game in episodic form -_-

i'm hoping for a new cast and story

also hoping they reconsider the episodic model

i like the previous games a lot, but if i had to wait for months and months on episodes, i wouldn't have enjoyed them nearly as much. jumping in late was definitely the better choice for me

oh, also i'm hoping for some of the murder mystery elements from the first game to come back

Small town
Adult protagonist, like, in college or something, around there
Women protagonist, queer
Stable cast, not what they did with S2
OST like LiS S1 and BtS
Episodic
Not something as dark in plot as LiS S1/BtS, something maybe that has more in common with Night in the Woods
Superpower ala Twin Peaks

It's going to be announced at the upcoming Nintendo Direct.

...What? I'm totally not putting in false hope among anyone right now. Nope. Definitely not me.

Tell Me Why did it well last year. 1 episode a week for 3 weeks.

As long as there isnt months long gaps between episodes I dont have any issues with that delivery method.

That was kind of annoying about Tell Me Why, it was obvious the game was done but they still insisted releasing it episodically because reasons. I'd rather play the whole thing at once.

My hopes:
Feature 2 main male leads
Has tons of hidden gem indie tracks for the music
Telepathy power
Will make me feel all the feelings at the end of the game like LiS2 did for me.
I honestly think LiS should be a franchise about girls/women. I think being a teenage drama told from the point of a view from girl is exactly what made LiS1 so successful and is the core reason why it resonated so well with so many people. LiS was a unicorn in an industry that heavily focuses on males and consistently treats girls badly. As soon as you remove that aspect, it immediately loses a lot of its appeal. LiS2 putting two latino boys front and center was cool, but it simply wasn't what people were looking for in Life is Strange.

LiS 2 is my absolute favorite in the series (I didn't even like LiS very much), so I hope the new game is bold and not afraid to try news things, like 2 did.

I also hope we get more queer male characters, more fantastic characters like Sean, and more happy endings, because LiS2 ending destroyed me lol

Being nothing like LiS2 to begin with

- more gameplay stuff not just graphic novel
- less forced romance stuff with people i don't even care
- give protagonist the powers
- make my choices matter or at least feels like it
- stick with a group of characters and make me care (or hate) about them
- be more Tell me Why (wich is more LiS1) and less LiS2

dunno how one can say this when people liked lis2. idk about its sales but it mostly received a positive reception.

Same. At the core of the popular LiS games there were queer women at the front, and honestly I think they should go back to that. As you said we're already in an industry where males dominate the protagonist role and Life is Strange was a breath of fresh air.

Make two endings Canon and have Max, Daniel and the new character with powers all meet up to form The Strange League.

I hope they bring back daughter for the OST.
Anyways, I'm optimistic about this game. Deck Nine did an amazing job with BtS

Aside from the climax of the story seemingly straight up being entirely cut from the game, Before the Storm is, in a lot of ways, the best of the Life is Strange games. Very curious to see how Deck Nine builds on that experience with a LiS3

A single place: In addition to seemingly making it longer to develop, the road trip nature of LiS2 made it more difficult to connect with the -- still great! -- characters because who knew if you would see them again anyway
Representation for the unrepresented: I can't say what form it should take, but yeah, it would be weird and disappointing if LiS starred a straight white dude at this point
You are in control of the power: I actually thought the "you are the teacher, not the wielder" style of LiS2 worked well but I think if you're gonna have a series focused on powers, you need to be the one in control of them more often than not

I liked the opening credits in Life is Strange 1, that really got me hooked into the game.
Oddly I didn't find that much interest to play Life is Strange 2, strangely...I don't know why.

Have the powers tie in more closely to the narrative and themes like they were in LiS1, and have them be fun to use again.

It seems i am in a tiny minority but i liked LiS2 much more then LiS1 ,it was overall a significantly better game.

I don't know what to expect from LiS3 frankly...

as long as they handle their protags and npcs with the compassion and poise that they did in LIS 1 and BTS and that the graphics and world are beautiful I am down for whatever kind of people they want to portray, though having an adult protag would be interesting. must get round to playing 2.

I like the idea of the series tackling different things with each season. A period piece or a story focused on adult characters would be interesting. I think they're probably just going to end up evoking season 1 more than anything, but I want each entry to do it's own thing.

I quite liked 2, but the road trip element was also it's biggest weak spot, set it in one location or at least have a consistent cast throughout the season.

Season 1 got dark in spots, but Season 2 reached pure misery porn levels at times. For Season 3 maybe lighten things up just a bit.

The protagonist would preferably be from a marginalized or under represented group. Not being in control of the power worked in 2, but the player character should have control of it in 3.

I really liked all three games. I made a thread on this forum how it was cool seeing Latino boys with a white mom in LiS2 since that's my exact situation and was the first time I've been represented in a video game and it hardly got any replies lol. People really hate the second game. But it resonated with me a lot.

Can't wait to see what they come up with, really enjoyed the first 3 games.

I just hope they take very limited input from the community.

I wonder if it'll have ties to the
trailer park community
somehow since that seems like it could be a thing. We may have already met a character or two in it.
