So, let's think about a possible Amiga Mini retro-mini-computer.

I'd like you to select 20 games which would be included in it, following the following rules (heh!).

- This is something game-related, even though Amiga is a proper computer.
- Only Amiga original games. NO arcade conversions. Yes, I know, arcade conversions are an important part of the Amiga game library, yet they are not included here. So, only games designed for Amiga (or that have been published on Amiga, along with other PCs, such as Atari ST or DOS machines, or also published on other consoles...)
- The controller is provided with 2 buttons. One is the Fire button of a classic Amiga joystick, the other one is a mapping of the Amiga space bar (which was usually used as a second button in many games)
- No mouse controller games. This hypothetical thing hangs to a TV and is provided with joysticks/joypad. No mouse.
- The list may include games from the whole range of Amiga computers, till Amiga 1200/4000. AGA versions included.
- Yep, there is a virtual keyboard for entering names and such.

That said, which 20 games would you include in it?

Cannon Fodder
Stuntcar racer
Dune 2
Grand Prix
Lemmings
Zool
Speedball
Turrican
Pinball Fantasies
SWOS
James Pond
Lotus Turbo Challenge

Not 20 but that is what I can think of for now, I imagine Grand Prix would be impossible due to licenses...

I didn't read properly, I think it needs a mouse tbh.

Ok, can't remember if some of these used a mouse or not but I've avoided stuff like Carrier Command, Cannon Fodder & Lemmings as I think they all did:

Hunter
Midwinter 2
Soccer Kid
Sensible World of Soccer
Robocod
Turrican 2
Speedball 2
It Came From the Desert
SWIV
IK+
Leander
Geoff Crammonds Grand Prix
Supercars 2
Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge 2
Wings
Alien Breed
Flashback
The Chaos Engine

TBH after this I'm struggling as a lot of the Amiga's greatest games used the mouse extensively! Realistically no-one would buy an Amiga mini without a mouse controller as you're severely limiting your choices.

Turrican 2
Chaos Engine
Speedball 2
Lemmings 2 (make the controller have pointer functionality or something)
Gravity Force 2
Sensible World of Soccer (with names edited out)
Alien Breed
Flashback
Another World
Defender of the Crown
Moonstone
Lotus Turbo 2
Super Cars 2
Pirates
Civilization
Sim City
International Karate+
Pinball Fantasies
Cannon Fodder
Monkey Island 2
Simon the Sorcerer
Rodland
Parasol Stars
The Settlers

Yeah, good luck stopping at 20...

20 controller Amiga games?
I assume a load of these are in licencing hell, but whatever lol. This is mostly a my nostalgia pick, but I'll try to cover the big titles.

Superfrog
Zool 2
James Pond 2
Chaos Engine
Turrican 2
Shadow of the Beast III
Valhalla and the Lord of Infinity
Fantastic Dizzy
Alien Breed SE 92
Desert Strike
Body Blows Galactic
Flashback
WizKid
Putty
Super Stardust
Arabian Nights
Lotus 2
Assassin
Project X
Rick Dangerous 2

No mouse or arcade conversions makes this really hard though. Hell, one of the Deluxe Paints alone would justify the price of an Amiga Classic.

I'd love to play Paradroid 90 again. I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned considering OPs avatar.

I'd have to think for a while in order to give a full list, mind.

At the risk of being controversial... I think I'd insist on the presence of a mouse. A joystick is really limiting, and takes entire genres out of consideration.

(Me being me, I'd also want a full keyboard to get some Magnetic Scrolls goodness going, but I appreciate that that's a harder sell!)

Just realizing how much I would love this to be real. Love all the games mentioned. Alien Breed, Cannon Fodder, The Chaos Engine and Goal!(so much better than Sensible Soccer) would be my number 1 picks.

I would love to play the Desert Strike series by EA again (appreciate its not Amiga exclusive).

No mouse support is a travesty, so i'm ignoring it.
No arcade ports i can live with. Amiga versions were generally trash anyway :P
20 games is also a joke, so i'll be leaving out games that have sequels or better versions easily available elsewhere (monkey island, Indy 4 etc)

-Alien Breed 2
-Apidya
-Cannon Fodder
-Dungeon Master
-Flashback
-Hunter
-Hybris
-Lemmings 2
-Lionheart
-Lotus Turbo 2
-Moonstone
-Mr Nutz
-Pinball Fantasies
-Ruff N Tumble
-Speedball 2 : Brutal Deluxe
-Stunt Car Racer
-SWOS
-Syndicate
-Turrican (2 if you have to pick only one)
-Wings

Probably lots more that would deserve to be there instead.

Some fantastic lists here, and lots of people ignoring the rules. I agree that it's hard to do without mouse but there are plenty of options.

- Zeewolf 2 - fantastic with joypad controls (I could never handle the mouse controls)
- Fly Harder (amazing Thrust style cave flyer)
- Fury of the Furries
- Fire & Ice
- Gloom
- Heimdall 2
- Flink

Mindwalker would have to be on it. Not because it's a great game, but because it blew my mind when I first saw it at Babbages in the mall in freaking 1986.

I think until today, I never actually knew how to play it. I only ever saw the platforming screen and nobody was ever playing it!

i also really liked Leander by Psygnosis.

A mouse/KB support is a must.

A null modem cable / modem emulation trough internet/lan between units for a proper multiplayer games would be amazing.
Stunt Car racer and Populous just are not what they can be without it.

I'd almost rather just buy a slim, modern, keyboard that has an amiga emulator inside

The closest thing to your idea is the Cinemaware Collection that AFAIR was full of glitches.

I think for me it's less "You *can't* make such a device without a mouse" and more "You need a mouse to really convey that this device represents the Amiga", if you see what I mean.

20 brilliant games? Easy. The best 20 games to embody the Amiga? Rather tougher.

People ignoring xenon 2 and IK+ don't deserve the Amiga.

IK+ (and Dynablaster in some peoples' lists) also makes me wonder if we're talking about support for multiple controllers; that, too, rather changes the scope of what we're discussing.

This is hard, but I'd definitely want Blood Money on there. Joystick game, supports two players.

As much as I think Lucasarts adventures, Armour-Geddon, Hired Guns, Midwinter and some of the RPGs are cool, I'd probably stick with things are pick-up-n-play with joystick, and run at a decent framerate.

Blood Money
Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe
Super Cars II
Pinball Dreams and/or Fantasies
Silkworm SWIV
Moonstone: A Hard Days Knight
Superfrog
Lazer Squad (if joystick support)
...

People have already mentioned most of the games I'd include. Moonstone definitely takes the top spot.

If we're going to add weirder games and/or games that were maybe not the greatest but still memorable in some way, I'd consider:

Monty Python's Flying Circus
Baby Joe
Lionheart
Batman
Spindizzy World
Rampart

and...

No Jaguar XJ220 love? :)

Hell yeah. You already know which music track I'm about to post...
