The voice acting comments are kinda hilarious but understandable.
This isn't even the first Lego Star Wars to have voiced dialogue, let alone the first lego game.
When people think of Lego Star Wars they are probably thinking of the first two games which had the mumbling.
Force Awakens probably had voices, but that's just not the first game that comes to mind when talking about these games and it's just Force Awakens and then Lego stopped doing games per Movie so they didn't even bother with 8 and 9.
Did Lego Star Wars 3 have voices? I don't think as many people cared about Clone Wars, probably more than with Force Awakens though.
The mumbling was just better.
If we would really want to talk about first Lego game with voice acting it would probably be Lego Island, which even came out long before.

No, 3 did not have voice acting.

Also, 3 is a good game. I found the battles unique. I understand a lot of people didn't like them because they weren't expecting them, but it's really unique and I really appreciate that lego games try new things sometimes. I think it's really underrated. Taken as it is it's a great game. Also, has some fantastic traditional levels. Some of my favorite in the series. Great easter eggs too.

It and Lego Pirates are by far my favorites. It has also aged better than TCS imo.

Looks awesome!

I wonder if this is going to be a mix of 30fps/60fps, parts of the trailer seemed to vary but maybe it was just the video. LEGO City Undercover was that way when I played through it on PS4 Pro. 30fps open world, 60fps missions.

No?
What do you mean by No? Force Awakens already had voice acting.
And they stopped doing single movie games not that long after.
So I don't what you are disagreeing with.

Of the newer games I actually liked Lego City Undercover.
But Lego Racers will forever be my all time favourite Lego game.
Wish Lego games had as much variety again as back in the day as they got kinda samey.
But this Skywalker Saga really looks like a breath of fresh air.

I meant, no, Lego star wars 3 did not have voice acting. I was just confirming that, and then I went on a small tangent about how much I love 3.

edited the post to be more clear.

Is it safe to assume that the content from a given film in this game is stretched thinner than a previous lego star wars game that might be from just that movie or that movie's trilogy?

I played one of them way way back. Every time I thought about trying it again another lego star wars game was coming out and I always was wondering about the above.

The Force Awakens in this is most definitely going to be more condensed than the full game based around that single movie, but I think the PT/OT stuff will have a lot more to it than The Complete Saga did. There's the many open world levels, for one, but Lego games in general have moved towards longer linear levels instead of the bitesize ones they had back then.

Doesn't Force Awakens include the OT Lego games as well?

Nope. It had a Battle of Endor level as a prologue (and a bunch of OT characters) but that was it.

I don't mind that this has voice acting, I just wish the voices were... better.

It doesn't help that the trailer picks out some of the more iconic lines of the series but delivers them badly.

I'm guessing they didn't use the original voices because they have more varied dialogue needs than whatever was recorded for the films, but watching this trailer all I could think was "I wish they'd just taken the voices from the films."

man, it just always is so awkward when taken from the film. The Audio is clearly differently mastered. They have to abridge it. It's just so weird. It's REALLY noticeable in Jurassic World.

This is the most exciting LEGO game since LEGO City Undercover. I don't think I have the willpower to wait for a sale. Spring 2021 can't come soon enough.
If you saw the E3 demo, you'd realize this is a ridiculously large scoped title.

This is NOT simply a hub-world with 9 episodes you jump into, following a map of reproducing scenes.

It's a GTA-style open world across the entire galaxy of Star Wars. There's no longer scrolling cameras. It's an over-the-shoulder game where you accept missions on each planet to go through the films in any order you want. This is closer to Ubisoft's Starlink than any other Lego game.
Yeah, the trailer was great but I was hoping for it to show off the scope of the open world more. Can you move from the surface of a planet into open space seamlessly or is it more divided into mini-open worlds for each planet and a separate space area? (I assume from this comment that you got to watch the E3 demo from last year)

Just noticed that freakin C3P0 was painting his arm red on accident in the trailer!

Looks like small, random, "silent", funny moment are still in!

Looks incredible. But why the weird mishmash of dialogue lifted from the movies, combined with re-recordings from obvious soundalikes?

I'm trying to remember, since it was over a year ago since I saw the demo.
But I do remember there was planet selecting, but you did fly and land the X-wing from what I remember.

I think it was each planet was dedicated to one movie, or something. There was some kind of selection.

Haven't played a lego game since star wars the complete saga, its been a huge while but this looks really good and Star wars is nothing more than a cool ip with good visual designs and dumb/cool swords/magic

Voice acting in Lego games was a mistake. Though the only Lego games I've ever owned are the first Lego Star Wars and the two Lego Harry Potters, so I'm not really someone who keeps up with this series.

Here's a quick and dirty comparison of the Empire ending scene.

I don't think I ever noticed Luke's new hand popping off in the first ending, wow. Hope they keep that in because it's gold.

Also wild seeing how much they've improved the "lego-ness". If anything I thought the opposite happened, but look at how that entire room is made of bricks.

The funny thing is I'm fairly certain the Lego Force Awakens game had a side mission DLC that explains why C3PO has a red arm. They marketed it and everything.

Luke's hand popping off is the funniest thing I've seen all week 😂

is the Xbox version supporting smart delivery? That it has only one box art makes me think so..not sure how they will market games in the future if the disks are using the same box art

I really loved the first two Lego Star Wars back in the day. Haven't played a Lego game since then, but I this looks really good. Definitely will pick this up if reviews are solid.

Lego actually made that basing it off of a comic of the same name:

Ah ok
Sorry
Thought you meant Force Awakens
Thats good to hear cause I maybe wanted to get to 3 someday.

It goes on sale, albeit it a bit less often than some of the other games, decently often I guess.

It has a number of levels that are almost like mini RTS battles, but controlled like a normal lego game. They're very different, and you have to do a few as part of the normal story progression. If you want to 100% you'll have to do a lot more. Personally I enjoyed them as I've not ever played another game quite like it.

Seconding the Lego Star Wars III endorsement. That game is the best. Iirc in addition to controlling armies of characters with some RTS elements in larger scale battles there was this really cool hub world set up as a space battle between the Republic and Separatists and you could fly to either ship and brawl with some guards if you played as an enemy character

Damn, that sounds spiffy.

Yeah, LEGO Star Wars 3 is my favorite LEGO game.

Really flexed the engine with that one and it actually had some cool set piece moments. Never even watched the clone wars so I rarely had any idea of what was going on, but it was still a lot of fun.
