OMG My daughters already do this with the Mario figures we have already, adding the game stuff is just a whole other level.

They're gonna be expensive.

That's fascinating. So you build a level, collect coins and have to complete it in a set amount of time? Weird.

Okay, so Lego Zelda is just a matter of time at this point then. Good thing I just bought a bunch of chinese Lego Zelda minifigs.

It's cute and obviously aimed at the wee childrens, I'd have loved it when I was younger

I'm hoping the blind bag rumor still holds true though for adult collectors and those who just want lil Lego Marios

That's interesting but was hoping for some massive classic builds like a huge Princess's Castle and Bowser's castle and shit like that. Cool for the kids though.

unpopular opinion, I think Mario would look just as bad as a minifigure

he's a round and cherubic character, a minifigure just wouldn't look right

if they went that route you'd be stuck mostly with figures of the plumbers, princesses, and toads. The majority of interesting characters would have to be builds.

My kid is going to lose his shit and I'm going to have to buy him all of the sets.

Lego is his favorite thing, and Mario is his favorite thing, so combine them and activate "Dad, PLEASE" mode.

People getting legit angry at Lego, a toy company, for making a toy aimed at children!

Sure plenty of adults, me included love Lego but we don't have to be the target for everything

I think Mario would work really well with the recent 'medium-sized' legs that they released with the Harry Potter sets:

They can still move whilst making it so that he keeps his short figure.

Must say that I am disappointed that this doesn't seem to be anything close to traditional but I do really like the look of it anyway. Won't be buying it, though. Don't have anywhere near the space to have one of those levels in my house lol

My 3 year old heard the music and ran over to see it. "Daddy I buy that ok?"
Well. If you really twist my arm I guess I'll buy it for him and totally not me.

Awful.
I mean it's ok for kids I guess but that has barely anything to do with Lego and the brick count for each set is laughable for the price they want.
Such a waste of the IP. :/

What is is Duplo caliber shit? Comeon guys... I need this to be successful so they make Zelda and Metroid sets too.

How about this, Nintendo: Amiibo Lego colabs. Your welcome.

Edit: Sorry for the harshness... I'll admit, I'll buy one... and never open it only to sell later.

For those who wanted Minifigs, there's the likes of the K*Nex line a few years back. They had a wide range too. Even a Waluigi Minifig.

I know, not the same, but still.

Ugh. Not what I was expecting. I understand it's aimed at kids but I was lowkey hyped for a classic Lego set with Mario characters and buildings.

Why? No. I think you have no idea what we already have in Lego mini figure form. That goes from Gremlins, to baby Yoda, to the freaking Demogorgon, and if it has to be bigger, it can be a bigger, but still compatible figure too, like Marvel's Hulk.

In the 2000s there was a series of Mario gashapon in Japan that was Lego-like

Some of 'em work better than others (I have the pianta and he's great) but I think it shows how a unique head mold would fix things. Though I think Lego might be cutting back on those, after Lego Toy Story 4 gave everyone a minifig head after having unique molds for Toy Story 3
