That's where i got the idea, but finding solid clear blue is nearly impossible for this size. So I went with the blue clear dots. But it's the color tiles underneath that give it the depth.

I am half tempted as well. I am missing ONE piece to have a complete loop. No idea where that part went.
Not feeling that Winter Village set this year. Which is fine, since I never picked up last year's train station.

Hmm deciding between that and brick bank. Im at the point where if I get new sets I have to disassemble others so I gotta be careful.
OFS is an amazing good looking set (as display) but a simpler building (nothing really extraordinary in building technics). A favorite of mine, but also does not display well side by side other modulars, either you display it on a shelf or makes a beach for it.
Pretty much this. It looks amazing, but to achieve that look it uses a lot of repetitive and straight forward techniques. I didn't really enjoy building it, but love having it on display.
Brick Bank was a fun build (like every modular is), but is one of my least favourites in the looks-department.
I absolutely adore that Target Exclusive Coffee Shop that's coming out. I've been on the hunt for it ever since I saw the pic of it last week. None of the stores I visited had it. Bricklink said it was instock at most, typing the DCPI code into the price scanner usually said they couldn't find the item.
A guy at one of the Targets was nice enough to help me look and said they're not allowed to put them out until Sep 30th.

I think it's the oldest modular still available. Not sure how long since the last modular retirement though
The cinema went just over 4.5 years and Pet shop made it a bit over 5 years. Parisian came out Jan 2014 so currently at 4 years, 9 months. I would guess it is retired in January when the likely next modular releases.

I would get Parisian Restaurant regardless of whether it's being retired. My favourite LEGO build of all time and the end result is gorgeous.
I have a weird feeling brick bank will retire this year instead of PR. It seems to fly under peoples radar and go on sale a lot. Not much enthusiasm for it.
Walmart Canada put the Pet Shop and Palace Cinema on clearance in July of the year each set was retired. This year they haven't put any modular on clearance. Ghostbusters HQ and Silent Mary were put on clearance though.
I traded a Death Star without most of its figures for a complete silent Mary, I'm hyped to build that ship

Exterior complete. The lids hinge open and the front panels pop off easily so you can see the insides (still in progress)
The keys move (in groups of 2 or 3) which cause individual hammers to strike. The sustain pedal will lift a damper bar.
Now to buy some of the more unusual parts and mock some of this up in the flesh to make sure I ain't crazy...

Is the "Lego Forma" name referring to the crowdfunding approach, the idea of having realistically-moving creatures or the skin-wrap component?

Y'all got me juiced up enough to actually order an assortment of parts to road-test the design and then fingers crossed it makes it through the selection process!
I'm going to submit a non-functional version too, with a lower part count and more robust construction (it's currently around 1,200 parts)

What's the actual size of it? Can you take a picture of it next to something for reference?
It's gorgeous.
The pics are actually renders! The new rendering engine in Stud.io is the absolute nuts.
It's 34 studs wide 12 studs deep and 23 bricks high, so about half the size of a small modular building. 27cm/10.5" wide, 22cm/8.5" high
That's where I started, but the curves are too tricky to pull off with the parts available in the design competition. Maybe later :)
