For a certain amount of time until the disc rot hits, yes. But even psx and saturn games still work if taken care of. So not a huge concern.

Bigger concern is honestly the longevity of the consoles themselves. Ps3 and 360s are pretty much universally shit at some point, where still plenty of psx and saturns kicking.

Also emulators and digital versions basically making the hard copies not worth a damn.

I'm glad I have a PS5 that's supposed to arrive by Tuesday thanks to a friend having an extra bundle I could buy from them so I can no longer worry about the hustle needed to get through the retailer BS for a successful purchase.

Just got the delayed order email from BestBuy. Oh well, AC Valhalla and Cyberpunk 2077 on PC should hold me over in case the order is cancelled.

I thought for sure we were getting some drops from Target or Amazon today but I guess not.

Also, sounds like we're not gonna be getting anything from Best Buy if it's a possibility that they have to cancel orders.

Sucks they are delaying :( Seems like the burden of curbside for all orders is the push, hopefully rather than an oversell.

That sucks. My PS5 still says it's preparing for Sunday pickup.

Did your all's order tracker progress at all other than this newest update? The only movement I've had on my end related to the PS5 is the progress bar has progressed lol and that it still just says my order is still just waiting for Sunday.

Hopefully this isn't too widespread...

Yeah I got a delay email from Best Buy about an hour ago saying my curbside pickup for my PS5 was delayed. And if it doesn't show up or is ready for pickup by December 4th I will get a refund.
I hope its just a minor setback and doesn't mean doom for my order.

If BestBuy oversold after implementing the new checkout system, it will look bad on them as a company and their ability to plan and implement new systems. Might as well leave the old system of whoever gets what the bots didn't and have no one to blame.

My Pulse headset went 'Preparing For Pickup early last night to Ready For Pickup in a matter of hours. The PS5 went from Pickup Saturday (my original choice) to Preparing For Pickup today and finally to delay.

Right? They must be overloaded with in-store pickups as a whole, not just consoles. That or they're having to shift inventory around. Only thing about shifting inventory is that on the first round of drops on Wednesday I could pick-up from 4 different stores (couldn't check out). At the 15 minute drop I could only pick-up from one store.

On Best Buy overselling, they oversold the RTX 3070 at release and they used the new checkout system. Inventory and logistics are way more complex than we think and it's probably very easy to oversell when thousands of people are ordering the same item at the same time.

BestBuy should hold your orders till they get in new stock and just honor it, or give you the option for that OR your money back. And before putting the rest up, setting aside enough to honor them.

This launch is a fucking mess, and I truly hope none of you come back into this fold and get your PS5s

Have you called and asked if they could transfer it? You have 7 days to pick it up so if it's not going to be cancelled until next week I'd consider calling your local Best Buy on Sunday and seeing what they can do. Or just going into the store and asking if it's possible. Customer Service can't make that transfer, but they should be able to call that store and have them make a transfer request to your local store. Now, this mostly works for items that haven't been purchased yet, which is why I would try calling the 888-237-8289 number first. Black Friday is probably the worst day to do so, however.
