One of my favorite gaming companies during the SNES to PS2 days. So many great strategy games. RTK, Nobunaga's Ambition, Genghis Khan, Liberty or Death, PTO, Bandit Kings, etc.. Plus some cool rpgs like Uncharted Waters, Saiyuki Journey West.

Glad to see they have revived their strategy games in the West this gen after missing for a decade essentially. Hell, I still play RTK VII, X, and XI fairly often. I enjoy the DW series as well, but prefer the strategy games.

Always enjoyed the Tecmo Deception series. I still remember the first game having a warning label on it "This game contains Satanic messaging" or something similar. Lol.

Absolutely love Tecmo Koei for Fatal Frame and the Musou series, though I'll freely admit I've had a falling out with the Dynasty side of Musou, preferring the spin offs and the Samurai series. My favorite Musou spin offs are Hyrule Warriors and the first Fist of the North Star.

Fatal Frame 3 is the only game to ever come close to making me cry, damn that ending lol

Also a shout to the Deception series, I loved the ever living crap out of Kagero: Deception 2, so much so I would always pick Ayane's Millennia costume in DOA 2

As someone that recently completed Trinity Souls of Zill O'll, Nemea was a way better option to go with. Areus was just generic RPG magic-swordsman man, but in an ARPG. I guess he was also half-elf too or something.

The game was definitely very repetitive. I also feel like DQ Heroes 2 is just a way better version of that game (since they're both ARPG's with character parties and character switching) but I don't want to get into that now.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed it. Its been a very long time since I played Zill O'll and I remember very little of it, but while playing through DQ Heroes 2 I had this strange sense of deja-vu and by the time I beat it I realized how similar it was to Trinity.

Anyone know what's up with KT Europe's social network team?

They used to interact so much with their "#KTFamily" and do giveaways every week and stuff like that. Now it seems they post a scheduled tweet every now and then and that's it. Meanwhile, KT America has really stepped up their game.

My name is Eric, I'm the Community/Marketing/PR specialist for Koei Tecmo America and i joined in 2015 and have been making major changes for Koei Tecmo America and did a lot of great projects with Chin while he was still with KTE. It was a sad day when he left but we still keep in contact. Europe currently doesn't have a CM right now (i know its obvious ><) but because of this, i have to take on more work to organize a schedule for Europe to follow the official posts.

Major Goals:

1) Make KTA the prominent source for KT-related news and information.
2) Make improvements to our PC Ports (I put in extra personal time to push them in the right direction) - This will take time...
3) Connect with our fans and support fan-made content (Fan Art/Cosplay/Videos/ streams)

Honestly, I'm open to feedback if you want us to do something different or have any interesting ideas feel free to reach out and let us know :)

I shared this over in the DW9 OT previously, but I was at Emerald City Comic Con over the weekend and was able to commission a really awesome sketch of Zhang Chunhua in her DW8 attire:

I went out to a framing studio earlier today and order a frame for it and a couple of other pieces I picked up. This is going to look really nice on my wall!

So I want to get into the Gust games as my girlfriend is a huge Atelier fan.
Which versions do I get? I hear the Plus are enhanced ports but the originals have better frame rate.

Hi,
that's really cool, especially about the pc ports - I haven't played a KT game on pc except DOA5 but I know there are often issues with Japanese pc games / ports so there's surely room for improvement. :)

Honestly, I'm open to feedback if you want us to do something different or have any interesting ideas feel free to reach out and let us know :)

I've been taking any and all surveys to suggest that a new DOA Xtreme game is going to be made, low and behold a couple of years later we actually got that game. :)

I also took surveys to say nothing should be changed from the Alpha in Nioh however... :(

PS: I'm in Europe, if you need a community manager holla at me! ;)

Still trying to make my way through Fatal Frame II, though it's more like clawing my way. I can't play for more than 20 minutes before getting too squeamish to continue.

Welcome to the thread, Eric!

I'd recommend starting with Atelier Ayesha. It's the first of the "Dusk" trilogy, and eases players very nicely into the mechanics of the franchise - and it even has a good story, as well as an enthralling and charming protagonist, to boot! The "Plus" Version on Vita features additional quests and all the DLC from the PS3 version, but I can recommend the PS3 version as well.

Eric, can you inquire if there is any chance of ROTK XI PUK (power-up) version on Steam to be localized? One can still buy the original version of XI in couple of places but not the updated one :(. XI is still quite popular with a lot of ROTK fans.

Hi Stereo I've actually personally brought up this topic as well as many others. However, since i haven't gotten an answer regarding it i don't think its planned anytime soon. :(.

I have a question for the Musou experts here. I've only played Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors (and a minimal amount of Samurai Warriors 3) and I've generally enjoyed it, but I really hate how the lack of online forces split-screen multiplayer that clearly has a big effect on both framerate and the # of enemies spawned. Any recommendations for Musou titles that overcome these limitations? I was looking at Warriors All-Stars, specifically thinking I might be able to brute force smooth performance with my PC. Or maybe the PC ports of the Dragon Quest Heroes games?

There is an Atelier OT in Hangouts but it's frequently dead for weeks at a time.

Hum, I actually didn't know that. I'm gonna go find it now since I have a Rorona Plus-related question.

So I want to get into the Gust games as my girlfriend is a huge Atelier fan.

The Plus versions have the most content indeed - but you'll be fine with the PS3 versions of everything except Shallie, which has substantial extra content on Vita.

I would say that's the best sub-series to start with as it's the most accessible. Arland (Rorona/Totori/Meruru) is by far my favourite though.

Honestly, I'm open to feedback if you want us to do something different or have any interesting ideas feel free to reach out and let us know :)

I don't suppose there's any chance you could answer on whether there's any hope of you revisiting releasing some of the Vita ports you skipped over the years (I'd still buy Atelier Lydie & Blue Reflection if they came).

And massive long-shot, but can you give any comment at all on working with Limited Run Games to get the Plus versions of the Vita Atelier games out physically?

It...it wouldn't be too much to ask for you guys to test the waters with a Ruby Party game localization, would it?

Hi Kresnik, Doesn't seem likely that we'll revisit vita ports as japan hq side made the decision for it not to come to the west for Vita.
HQ didn't approve of our plans with LRG so it didn't come to fruition.

I'm waiting for DOA6 with bated breath. It is my absolute favorite fighting game series.
I hope they don't plan to sit out this complete generation without a proper current gen DOA (DOA5LR was just a basic port).
Come on, don't leave all the spoils of the 3D fighter market to Bandai Namco and their Tekken and Soul Calibur series, especially after Virtua Fighter permanently dropped out of the race. :(

The thing I worry about with DOA6 is the DLC schemes. It's been nice being able to pick and choose, buy directly the costumes you want. Recently with all the lootbox love from corporations though, I hope DOA6 doesn't also fall into that. Hopefully we can still buy costumes outright.

Hi Eric,

When will Atelier Ayesha on Vita (or even the PS3 version) get a discount - I literally can't start the dusk series until I get Ayesha. It hasn't been discounted for a year and a half and AU$60 is a bit much for a downloadable game.

(I promise I'll buy the mysterious series.)

AoT2 less than a week away, anyone picking it up? The first game was pretty fun even though I hadn't seen the show but I haven't decided if I want the sequel yet. Already getting Ni No Kuni next week so I might hold off.

I'm jumping in because of the character creator. I only watched 6~ episodes of the anime, but I'm a sucker for scenarios with an original character. If all goes well, I may even give the manga a shot in the future.

I've got the digital pre-order in, but I don't think I can play it for a bit because I've gotta catch up on manga tbh. Stopped reading around Vol. 15ish, waiting for Hajime to finish the damn thing so I can blitz it, but no dice.

Maybe the game sitting around in my backlog will spur me to read some more lol.

I'm a musovore.

Yes, even Dynasty Warriors. I will defeat Dong Zhuo for the 30573626th time, repell Wu forces for the 89372648th time, secretly admire but crush Zhuge's plots for the 372528th time, follow Sima Yi each time, spit on Cao Cao for the 5037264th time, disdain Zhao Yun for the... Well, I love those games, I'm never tired of the Three Kingdoms and I still don't know why I love it so much. And still didn't play to the last one. Shame shame !

I'm glad there are several on Switch, I liked FEW, I'll triple dip Hyrule Warriors, and I'm excited about AoT2 (in few dayssss ~ yay !)
If only they released DW8:E in EU, I really like Empires to invade the world with Sima family... extended.

That was a hallmark of the "Inspector Chin" era. You could tell that the former owner of Koei Warriors enjoyed being the community manager of KT itself.

It's unfortunate, but his departure seemed to mark the end of that kind of interaction the KTFamily enjoyed.

That's sad, I follow this Twitter account for a long time and I was wondering why it was less friendly. Thanks for the info.

The first game was fun. Great swinging mechanics and it really felt like playing the show. Looking forward to the sequel, but right now I'm busy playing other stuff and a bit tight on money, so I'm waiting for a sale in the upcoming months. The only thing I hope they would've put in the original game was the show's stellar OST. They tried to emulate some songs but it just wasn't the same. I know that license issues and more were probably standing in their way.

Arbok26. Unfortunately, we don't handle the regions outside of US/Canada but we've had Ayesha on sale multiple times ... i thought Europe would handle it similarly. Will try to discuss with them regarding sales to see why this is the case.

I have a question, KoeiTecmoAmerica
Who is responsible for the pricing of the Steam versions (and discounting by extension, I guess)?
The prices of your newest day-and-date releases are ...getting out of hand.
i7Oulwu.png

Dynasty Warriors 9 and Attack on Titan 2 are 70€. That's among the highest priced games on all of Steam (I checked and the only games that cost 70€ or more are either Bundles of multiple games or Deluxe editions, with the exception of 7 other games ranging from 74€ to 92€ - but they definitely aren't mainstream).

Also while I'm at it I've been asked to ask you why you think RM268 for Attack on Titan 2 is reasonable, which is apparently as much or more than the weekly shopping.
Attack on Titan 2 is also 4 times as expensive as 1 in Russia for some reason.

Nice to see some people looking forward to AoT2.

It just popped up on Steam and I got really excited... until I realised it's the Japanese version! It says different languages will be available on the 20th but I have no idea if that means they are patching them in or they will be a separate listing on the store?

Either way, it's another £54.99 KT release on PC. I have no idea why the hell they charge a £15 premium over the biggest AAA games that get released on PC. Hopefully it will show up on Green Man Gaming or cdkeys at some point.

The post above me already asked but I would love to know who sets these prices and what the logic is behind them, especially with how little effort goes into the PC versions in the first place.

Probably just greed, I guess.
After Nioh's successful release at 50€, I thought that maybe KT was gonna start releasing their games at more competitive prices, but nope, with DW9 and AOT2, their games have gotten even more overpriced than before Nioh (in Europe at least).

Well the regional price increases really started with Nioh. In malaysia it was rm219 ($50), when blue reflection was rm105 ($25) last year. Now AoT2 is rm268 ($65). I mean at these prices they are just testing the market. Sad thing is that a lot of wealthy folk can pay, $10 increase is nothing for them.

That's the main reason why I don't buy their games as much as I want. And it's sad to see that DW8XLCE is still 49,99€ (61,65$) 4 years after its release. For instance, Bioshock Infinite (2013) is 29,99€ (39,99$), and Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin (2014), so w/ all the DLCs, is 39,99€ (49,33$).

All pricing for PC Steam is handled on the Japanese side... I have brought this topic up.
