I was not expecting this when I started to play, but the way the game presents itself is quite charming (from a gameplay perspective) . I admit, it is janky and has its fair chair of bugs, but I don't feel they detract from the overall experience. I like the fact that you start out as a nobody and you gradually improve Henry.

And it probably has the most enjoying stealing mechanics I have seen in a game in recent times. The combat is hard to master, but it feels satisfying. In end, KCD is one of the best games of last year.

I played up until the combat tutorial.

At which point I said something to the effect of, "Seriously, that's the combat?" Then I laughed for a bit and uninstalled.

Besides, didn't the creative director or whoever turn out to be a racist gamergator or something?

For the 10th time: people are missing out. Especially those who claim to be RPG fans.

It's like a Bethesda RPG, but better in many ways.

I disliked the start and end of the game but thought it had some pretty fun quests and characters. Looking forward to what they do next.

It is very good. I need to go back to it. Unfortunately I dropped it at launch after 25 or so hours due to the bugs getting out of hand. But I really enjoyed my time up to that point. Being from central/eastern europe, I also have to say, they totally nailed the atmosphere of the world. The vistas, forests all seem so familiar lol.

I should really start this game. I've been meaning to play it for awhile, but I always get distracted by other games.

I need to try this at some point. Have they stopped making DLC yet? I'd rather wait for a complete edition now.

I'll never have time for it between the backlog, all the new 2019 releases and old games I want to replay, but I really wanna try KCD, hearing only the positive things about it.

I wanted to play but I draw the line at no cursor for archery. I'm sorry I need my cursors.

Totally agree with you, OP. It's an amazing game. It's a must for everyone who loves RPGs and open-world games. Regarding the bugs, almost everything was fixed by now, so it's a great time to jump in.

I was completely sure that it'd be impossible for me to do archery without a cursor. And indeed I failed miserably at first. But I kept trying and after a while I realized that it's surprizingly fun to shoot without a reticle, especially after you finally start making successfull shots (and you will after a while).

I agree that it's one of the best games of the last year, as much as I wanted to hate it.

It scratches that Elder Scrolls itch especially well.

Yep it's seriously great. I sunk about 40 hours into the PS4 version at release but several quests got bugged and couldn't be completed so I set it aside waiting for patches. Still haven't gotten back to it yet but I am really looking forward to doing so.

It was my favorite rpg when it came out last year. It felt like a good throw back to crpg's and actually had a lot of depth behind it and the world. I'm glad it sold so well and also recently the studio was acquired by THQ Nordic so the next Kingdom Come will have an even bigger budget and scope I'd say.

I played up until the combat tutorial.

At which point I said something to the effect of, "Seriously, that's the combat?" Then I laughed for a bit and uninstalled.

Besides, didn't the creative director or whoever turn out to be a racist gamergator or something?

The combat is extremely in depth, that first tutorial for combat at the start is literally just the tip of the iceberg of combat and is literally the barebones of it, it does NOT show you anywhere near the full combat you will get access to in just a few hours from there, you really missed out on the full depth of it if you gave up then.

There's parries, ripostes, special moves that work specifically against certain enemies vulnerabilities, etc. Weapons that work specifically against certain armor types or lack thereof and other things.

You learn these things from Captain Bernard who serves as the main combat trainer who will teach you these things, and even then when you first train with him it still isn't the "full" combat and you have to come back to him to learn the more advanced moves as well.

Also, like most rpgs, starting out you are meant to really suck at combat, which is why it's hard early on until you train and use it and build up Henry's skills and learn new moves and things. You aren't meant to be able to simply go off and take on an armored Knight and win.

its a "True" RPG.... what an RPG is supposed to be , roleplaying as someone who is pretty much a nothing and building him up to be at least competent.

Yep, despite it's (MANY) issues I have a tonne of respect for the game and what it tried to do (and mostly succeeded at) though I think most of its issues stem from being overly ambitious without the budget to match it. I enjoyed the 80 hours I put into it but the amount of (literally) game breaking bugs I encountered has made me queasy thinking about replaying it again. Also despite not liking the combat or the majority of the main story, I still really liked it which says something about its charm.

For people who like critique videos, NeverKnowsBest latest video is on Kingdom Come and basically mirrors my thoughts on the game.

Edit: Fixed some poor sentence structure and grammar.

Oh, my problem wasn't that it was shallow or there weren't enough moves.

My problem was that it controlled and animated like complete and utter shit.

I have my problems with the real time hunger/sleep/quest systems.

You'd expect people from the time period to have to wait weeks or months for you to get things on foot/horse, but in this game you can fail quests so easily because of really small time constraints to complete them.

Oh this guy needs something, then it takes me half a day (in game) to get to the location, have to sleep because my character is falling asleep, find food cause my character is starving, get into a fight or two on the way, finally come back to the quest giver, and I failed because I took too long.

I last saved 2 hours ago...

Over all, there are some fun quests, the combat system is ok, the rpg systems are good. It's just the timed things that they took too far.

It started well but you quickly and very easily turned into an overpowered superhero capable of taking on entire towns of guards on your own. I got to a point where the main story was bugged and i could no longer progress. Never been back to it.

I'm barely past the prologue, but yeah. I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying it. The writing is much better than I was expecting it to be, and the world feels very well realized so far.

Was a great game to me, I really liked getting into the more subdued components like alchemy. The only thing that left a sour impression was the ending, it didn't feel very complete.

It might be a great game, but why would you want to support a game made by an alt-right gamergator?

Just to spite you.

Anyway, the game does look interesting, and I keep hearing great things about it. I should really give it a try the next time it's on sale. Have the bugs mostly been fixed by now? I'm interested in the Xbox One version.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is easily one of the best RPGs I've played in a long time, up there with Divinity Original Sin 2 as examples of what devs should be aiming for in this genre.

I want to try it but the lowest it's ever gone on the Canadian PSN is $40 and that seems a bit too rich for that game.

Shall definitely get it eventually, waiting for a complete version to appear when they've basically released everything and fixed all the bugs they're going to fix (even if it is supposed to be in a good spot now). Looks to be right in my wheelhouse.

Same for me. It was pretty hard in the beginning and then suddenly it became a cakewalk. It felt like the game was falling apart at some point. Very unbalanced.

But I think they patched and balanced the game a lot since I last played it. Might be worth jumping back into it. The setting and atmosphere were so well done.

Its amazing! loved the combat and realism, hope we get a sequel.

I was not aware he did it single handedly.
Because the game is also made by people who has nothing to do with creative director's political beliefs?

He's the creative director, I'm sure he had no influence on the game /s

Here's a bonus: You'd also be supporting THQ Nordic who employs people who thinks 8ch, a site delisted from google for hosting child pornography and is hotbed of pedophiles, is an acceptable community to engage with and normalize.

Really tried to get into it around December, but yeah, that combat was just god awful. I'm also not really into historical fiction, so the setting doesn't interest me at all.

I might give it another chance when a complete edition or something is out, though.

one of my most anticipated games of the gen but i dropped it pretty quick. combat was awful, not a dealbreaker but i didn't care to wrap my head around 'mastering' it either. what finally made me give up was the quest pathing, such as meeting this or that NPC at this location at that time. i'm partly to blame being conditioned to follow quest markers for every post-Oblivion game but i spent i don't know how many hours just wandering around wondering why a certain event wouldn't trigger

that said it brought back old school crpg vibes and the writing, acting and historicity were fantastic. i'm going to give it another go someday but i'll have to be in a particular mood to sit down and play through it all

You can also buy it second-hand (physical console copy) and not support the studio.

OK. I'm also greatly looking forward to Biomutant, published by the same motley crew, and The Last Night, whose main creator probably ruffles your feathers as well. Is there any other way I can upset you today?

I feel I should apologize, but I just recommend this game because while janky and full of bugs, is still a charming game and of the best RPG's in the last few years.

This game really was amazing. I loved so much about it. In my top 10 all time, a shame not to play it because it is just like Skyrim v2 but with a more grounded world without fantasy creatures, which I actually prefer.
