It was my favorite rpg when it came out last year. It felt like a good throw back to crpg's and actually had a lot of depth behind it and the world. I'm glad it sold so well and also recently the studio was acquired by THQ Nordic so the next Kingdom Come will have an even bigger budget and scope I'd say.
I played up until the combat tutorial.
At which point I said something to the effect of, "Seriously, that's the combat?" Then I laughed for a bit and uninstalled.
Besides, didn't the creative director or whoever turn out to be a racist gamergator or something?
The combat is extremely in depth, that first tutorial for combat at the start is literally just the tip of the iceberg of combat and is literally the barebones of it, it does NOT show you anywhere near the full combat you will get access to in just a few hours from there, you really missed out on the full depth of it if you gave up then.
There's parries, ripostes, special moves that work specifically against certain enemies vulnerabilities, etc. Weapons that work specifically against certain armor types or lack thereof and other things.
You learn these things from Captain Bernard who serves as the main combat trainer who will teach you these things, and even then when you first train with him it still isn't the "full" combat and you have to come back to him to learn the more advanced moves as well.
Also, like most rpgs, starting out you are meant to really suck at combat, which is why it's hard early on until you train and use it and build up Henry's skills and learn new moves and things. You aren't meant to be able to simply go off and take on an armored Knight and win.
