For how much it cost for mediocre at best chicken, your wallet should be.
People always bringing up a chicken strip joint in threads about fried chicken.
Popeyes is freaking disgusting. Last time I bought from there, the entire container was covered in grease, they forgot my red beans and rice, and the chicken was cold.
Oh and they forgot my buffalo sauce!
Chick-fil-a is better (through I don't go there anymore because of other reasons).
We went to a KFC in the States a few years ago, and were shocked by the size of the pieces. Those are some steroid-pumped mutant chickens you're cooking down there.I find that KFC has the biggest pieces and they're less greasy.
I've been to the one near Redondo, I think Des moines? Not half bad. I'd say similar to Popeyes. Too bad there's so few locations up here. I believe Churchs is a thing in Canada tho. Like BC.

I ain't liking these thoughts.Calling people commoners while eating at Churches Chicken. THINK ABOUT IT.
There's still one by me in East LA. Be jealous. Such great fucking chicken.
Wow. Great fact. Wasn't aware of that rebranding.
I was just visiting Vietnam, and they have Church's Chicken there too, but they renamed it Texas Chicken. Not entirely sure why, but I suspect is had to do with possible religious objections by the government related to the original name. They have Popeye's and KFC too.

Churches' biscuits are so damn great.
Is it still actually pioneer chicken though? Pioneer was the bomb in the 80's but I've been to that east los pioneer in like the mid 00's and it was just some rando burger/taco place on the inside I didn't stick around to find out if they actually served chicken because I was disappointed.
That is quite a trek for me. Do you know if it is still the same recipe? I knew that a location or two still exists, but I didn't want to try and go there only to have some sort of imitation of the real thing. A company essentially shuts down and the mass-produced ingredients stop being made. So I'm curious if it's the real deal.
This was my favorite fried Chicken when I was younger shame they kind of went extinct.Pioneer Chicken. The only restaurant that has left an impression that has lasted 20+ years since my last meal there. Every time i have had fried chicken since its never been as good.
Pretty sure it is very similar. Almost orange-brown crusty/crunchy breading, with a very country fried chicken taste, not excessively seasoned.
