Nothing will ever bring Breonna Taylor back or truly bring her justice, but Hankison going to jail + the police reforms agreed to as part of her civil settlement are pretty solid.

Really surprised AG Cameron even recommended charges against Hankison, considering his political aspirations.

It's not enough.

Burn the US to the ground. Having a police officer be a murderer is now officially cheaper than hiring a hitman.

This is far short of what was required to bring justice to Taylor's killers. Looks like it's time to head back to the streets.

I think we're about to see mass protests tonight and the next few nights. There's going to be a lot of anger about this.

Same shit, different day. Louisville will burn tonight and people will blame looters and rioters instead of solving the issue of police brutality.

This decision seems designed to spark riots and violence. Who would want something like that?

Those charges are an insult. To only charge one cop with shooting at the neighbour's house is all but admitting that the cops should be charged with worse.

IANAL but I work in a legal adjacent field. I think from a legal standpoint (not a justice for Breonna one), this is not a bad outcome.

Look at every thread leading up to this and the number of posts saying Hankison would 100% walk with no charges, and now he's facing up to 15 years. In context (the cops not obviously breaking any laws, KY, Daniel Cameron, etc) this is not the worst case scenario.

You can't say Hankison is going to jail when this is only an indictment.

Max sentence for first degree wanton endangerment in Kentucky appears to be five years. That's pretty light.

These are among the most insulting charges they could have filed. It was t wanton endangerment. Someone got fucking killed.

A run-around indictment for one officer and the others get nothing.

Whatever the retribution against the police could be, it would be well-deserved.

It took them six months to do this, the absolute bare minimum, when there was so much attention focused on Breonna Taylor's murder. The system is fucked beyond repair.

News outlets doing a good job reporting with headlines saying he's been indicted but doesn't list what the charge is or that the two other officers aren't charged with anything. So when things get rough tonight, bad faith actors can say, "You got justice and you STILL broke into that Wendy's. What gives?!

They're also saying he might serve absolutely no time at all.

People will march and riot because this is bullshit.

Sadly, it'll also give Trump more ammo for his racist bullshit.

I hope the good people of Louisville learn the lessons of those in Minneapolis as to what form of direct action has the best chance of achieving justice.

When news outlets didnt get up in arms about getting gassed/ attacked by cops since they were near protestors showed me what to expect. 2020 is an eye-opener for some stuff.
