Awesome, I'm glad some developers are doing the free upgrade unlike others (looking at you, Remedy!).
Probably same as what EA announced. You'll have a time window where you can claim your free upgrade.

I plan on getting the PS5 this year, but it sounds like I should get the PS4 version because that way I will have two copies of the game instead of just one? I plan on keeping my PS4 for like the bedroom while the PS5 will be in the living room, so if my partner wanted to play it in the bedroom she could and I'd also have a PS5 copy to play in the living room.

It couldn't be the opposite? Since it facilitate for PS4 buyers to transition faster to the PS5.
And, unless they delay it, the game is stated to release in 2020.
I don't think there can be time limits on smart delivery games.

Forgot about Crash. Probably won't get it at launch if they don't offer a free upgrade.
No it just means that they don't expect every PS4 owners to jump to PS5 at launch. So if you buy it on PS4 now and get a PS5 next year, you'll get the upgrade for free
