Funky and groovy song, check.
Taeyeon effortlessly bringing the vocals and visuals in one breath, check.
Trashy men getting their comeuppance, check.

I really love this release, it's a very solid one. I don't think it's near her top 3 solo stuff, but it's still in the top tier for sure.

Abracadabra, her impact, her influence, her iconic status. What an amazing song. You see the girls really poured a lot of energy into this cover, the way JiU opened the song with all the right expressions, you can tell they all studied the way BEG performed it (but Ga In remains the ultimate charisma and performing queen for this song though, forever). They even tried to do the drop down, although not as smoothly as the original one, but damn, it's a good cover. Definitely makes me want to see them venture into that music genre more, to be honest. I'm sure they'd slay.

And again, Abracadabra is still THAT song, 11 years after release, god I love this song so much.

I really love it? It's pretty different from everything they released in the couple of past years, and it's pretty fresh, poppy and upbeat, and it's definitely a nice change a pace without being a complete departure from their usual sound either. I'm gonna replay it a lot for sure, I'm glad this is their lead track, it's very much easier to love at first listen than their pre-releases. I need to listen to the album, I'll get to it at some point.

Lovesick Girls sounds so much like an Icona Pop track

It definitely has Icona Pop vibes indeed, and I love that a lot.

Also This is 100% Lisa's album

It's always Lisa's Era, her charisma and talents are outstanding, I wonder when she'll finally go solo, whenever that'll happen, I will expect her to shine the brightest.

The GOAT list is fairly extensive....

...but are they "wrong?"

Yeah, a lot of us fell in love with Lisa when Blackpink debuted. She might not have the singing capability or range of some of the other members, but dance, rap,* fashion/promo and just natural charm she seems to have the broadest spectrum of appeal and flexibility.

*I often like her verses more than people who clearly rap better than her

I'm kinda struck by how short the album is. I guess I was spoiled by Dreamcatcher. But it's 8 songs and only 4 of them are >=3 minutes.

The Album feels kinda disconnected. They teased it would be full of surprises, and it is. Songs are pretty different. Compared to everglows new album where all songs are centric around 80 melody pop music, this feels much more varied. Given the heavy western influence on the producer side (fucking David Geutta?) this comes to no surprise. Had I expcted a full studio album, this would be bare minimum. But given the circumstances, the delays from fugging november 2019 until now, yeah this feels like two mini album attached with duct tape. Im fine with it, the new songs make up the kinda dissapointment i had with ice cream (god, please give this a proper remix so its actually good). The songs sound full, dynamic, but go almost all too fast, except Ttile 8 "you knever know", which ends this album nicely. 8/10

After a couple listens, I really love The Album. The only thing that sticks out is Ice Cream, feels extremely out of place lol. But absolutely adore Lovesick Girls, Pretty Savage, and Crazy Over You, Bet You Wanna is catchy, and You Never Know is a great way to end it.

Just wish it was longer. 😭

This is a good thing they're doing more about this now.

That's encouraging to see. The provision of career counselling is particularly interesting. I've often wondered whether idols have any specialist organisation to turn to for advice outside of their own agency. Someone with a greater amount of perspective and experience of the industry. I feel like it's the sort of service that a former idol could potentially provide. Somebody who has been in the trenches and knows the ins and outs of idol life.

Haven't listened to an album (The Album) this much nonstop since The Perfect Red Velvet. Coincidentally, that was the last album I bought a physical for and this will be the next one once it arrives.

I picked mine up at Target. It's pretty cool that Target has a small K-Pop section now: SuperM, BTS, EXO and Blackpink. Opening K-Pop albums are pretty exciting as to who you'll get.

I got a Jisoo & Lisa photocard and a Jennie & Lisa postcard.

The Album is pretty good, but the problem is some of the songs are too short. I've heard mini-albums longer than the album.

I didn't get a poster for mine from Amazon :0

I might have to check my local Target to see if they have any in stock
