I wish tailing were just a QTE sequence in which I was suddenly pressing a button to hide when the target glanced behind themselves. The tailing sequences aren't difficult, just tedious and not particularly organic. There have been three or four moments now where I've felt like I had to change hiding spots or walk forward a bit because it seems like the target is stuck, and I can't tell if something's not being triggered or if the animation of the targets looking around just goes on forever. I appreciate that the chase sequences are effectively just QTEs now, as their initial implementations in Yakuza 4 (if I'm remembering correctly) didn't have an automatic endpoint, and so my chases would often start lapping, whereas Judgment thankfully has them end after you hit a certain location, and you don't have to sporadically dash to close the distance between you and the target. Assuming Judgment gets a sequel, I really hope we get a similar streamlining.
