I definitely wanna see what happens in Inferno, but I gotta be honest... the rest of the X-Men line is starting to lose me. Especially with all this recent news about Hickman leaving.
I'm going to pick up Hellfire Gala Red Carpet Edition, X-men Omnibus, and Inferno, and then I'm out for now. When those hardcovers arrive I'll just resub to Marvel Unlimited and catch up on all the books inbetween for that period and bow out gracefully until Hickman is ready to return to shake things up.
That's what I've been thinking as people have called out what they think are out of character behavior. Some even siting how he said he and Charles would never be at odds again. (Not the first time BTW)
Magneto came to the Quiet council in full BLACK armor, and his helmet. He knew what was coming and acting like... Well like Magneto when you call him out on anything. "I'm right, you're wrong. Fuckity bye! And also Fuckity Die!!!"

I know what you mean. Marauders in particular feels like it's spinning it's wheels.
That's fair but what about everyone else? Why didn't anyone even suggest they probe him? That it wasn't even mentioned as an option until it was too late to work is what irks me.
I actually quite liked the issue but this point sticks out to me.
He's wearing his helmet and I'd assume that the Quiet Council doesn't go around probing it's members. They didn't do it with Sinister when he was reporting his Hellions death. Despite 4 of the strongest telepaths siting right there.
My would they suggest to Magneto? Who has been one of the most upright and honest council members to this point.
Hell even Storm voted against resurrection for Wanda. Most would view his rage as a parent who lost a daughter.
I'm still all in on it. Best X-Men writing since the Utopia era.

I'm still loving it all myself, even the ones people are more down on now I think are at least "good" (like Marauders) so /shrug
I know I'm a broken record on this, but Marauders is just false advertising at this point. If Duggan wanted a Kate/Emma solo series or a Hellfire series, he should have said so instead of selling it as a team book and then abandoning the team a few issues in.

Still hyped for INFERNO but knowing Hickman is leaving kinda slowed down my excitement to pick up other books and Trial of Magneto plus that other mini event spinning out of Way of X (ended too soon) on top of everything event-y going in S.W. O.R.D. is, frankly, exhausting me.

Way of X was way good. Kurt's gambit of forcing Lost and Fabian make up while hurdling through the stratosphere was great. That's literally the extent you have to go to break through Fabian's personality disorder to something resembling emotional honesty.
These feats though! I know Fabian is fatally overloading them but even so, he is practically making them Omega-tier. Which is crazy, especially for a people that resurrect. Imagine the next Cotati, King in Black, obligatory Marvel world invasion event, Fabian overloading a group for Magik to port in and have them go absolutely nuclear. It was good for the narrative this issue but I don't know if I like the power scaling implications.
Trial of Magneto I didn't really like. The art was nice but the details kept bothering me. Surely Jean, the omega TP, can scan him while he's unconscious with no helmet. "No the id's a lawless place. I'd need Emma's help" "A nightmare can't confess." Whatever that means.
How about Rachel? That chrono skimming is OP. "There's too much temporal residue muddying up the view." Oh. Temporal residue. Okay. So you can only see the tiny bits that point to Magneto. Such as the inorganic material binding Wanda's hand with no one doing it. So it must be "magic, or -- Metallic." There's really nothing between that? No other powers that control inorganic substance? There's a million telekinetics that can do it with whatever material.
I appreciate how hard it is to maintain a mystery with all these OP powers, but this was sloppy, unsatisfying stuff only concerned with keeping the narrative on a rail to the next plot point.

We've seen Jean and Emma team up for a deep delve into the mind twice now. Originally in New X-Men and more recent Giant-Sized issues. Jean is an Omega, but Emma is all about finesse. It's been long been established that while Emma is not an Omega telepath, she has a lot more skill than a lot of the others.
A brain in a coma is not going to be logical, the ID is pure selfishness and Nightmares are not truth. It makes sense that Jean wants help.
Rachel's chronoskimming has been established to be imperfect for a long time. She is reading every temporal possibility that could have happened. That's why she needs it narrowed down.
Why it's "magic or magnetic" is a reach. But it's Polaris who makes that reach. Magneto has never treated his kids well. And Lorna has gone literally insane several times. She's seeing what she wants to see.
Let the story play out.

Even though I did think them over, they are unconvincing to me. How we get from point A to point B still has a pattern of sloppiness to me BUT we haven't even gotten to the trial yet so do your thing Leah. There's a lot of cool writing you can do with the setup of legal proceedings; especially given how meticulous she was with all the autopsy stuff.
What I mean it is a mystery/intrigue story involving people with a lot of history with each other. Let the story play out because let's be honest.

At this point I'm going to finish Trial of Magneto, keep on reading X-Men and wait for Inferno.

- Way of X was confirmed as a limited series, with The Onslaught Revelation one-shot ending the story in September. Spurrier has said it's coming back in some form, but it's not in the solicits.
Inferno is still exciting.I hope Hickman can answer some of his questions before leaving. Not sure how I feel about a different artist each issue though.
Unrelated note: I know Tom Taylor seems to be the hot name in comics now, but Dark Ages doesn't interest me at all. Like in any way.

I'm on the 6th Dawn of X TPB. Fallen Angels is definitely the weakest so far, and after some initial intrigue, X-Calibur is second-weakest. Enjoying Marauders, X-Force, and X-Men. About how long do I have before it gets bad?
You already read the bad one, Fallen Angels. The other bad one is Children of the Atom, the rest never become bad per se, in my opinion at least.
The last issue made me wonder if I was being too hard on it because I actually thought it was a solid ending. I do think it's clearly better than Fallen Angels just because characters speak like actual people

He started going by Egg pretty early in the Hickman era. Shortly after HoX/PoX.
I am not that familiar with the character. I need to read up
Empath was one of Emma's original students, the Hellions. This was back when she was still a villain.
I had read it initially as a 'sleeper agent' scenario, but if he was cognizant of circumstances and still made Havok do all that… lots of storytelling meat on that bone.
