I suppose there is a good amount of baggage with Bethesda (including the Kotaku blacklist) that will be interesting to see where it goes after this acquisition.

Context:
They sued him for working on Oculus while he was working at ID. I don't remember the outcome of that lawsuit.

Bethesda claimed that John Carmack took Bethesda VR IP (since he was a Bethesda employee while working on it) to Oculus:

It was with him and Zenimax iirc with the whole Oculus thing
They claimed in court that he stole patents for VR and worked them into Oculus, and also worked for Oculus on ZeniMax's dime.
It was a big ol' battle for "who owns VR?" a few years ago. As a result, he sort of got pushed out of Id/Bethesda and was sued for a bunch.
