Bu-bu Dumbledore is Gay tho years after the books are finished. Look how progresive I am.
Yeah, I've always been bothered by Rowling trying to get progressive credit where it's entirely unearned. And you know, I absolutely do buy that Dumbledore was gay, it makes sense with his backstory and relation to Grindlewald. But subtext ain't text. But worse for me was when assholes started freaking out about Hermione being cast by a black actress in the play, and rather than trying to explain that usually theater casts for talent without caring about race, she tried to claim that "I never said Hermione
wasn't black." Bull shit. You know how we know that Angelina Johnson, Dean Thomas, Kinglsey Shacklebolt, and Lee Jordan are black? Because she literally brings it up every time the characters show up, because that's what basically every white author does when writing a white POV character. Harry and the narration wouldn't make a point to clarify the race of a character (which they do in every case, the Patil twins, Cho, even the French characters) if it wasn't something notable from his perspective. So yeah, no credit for that either.
