The last time they put out a good RPG, one could argue, was with Morrowind.
That shit made 1.5 Billion dollars.
We don't need to wait for that. EA and others have already made it a reality. You laugh now, but when streaming services have taken, your precious AAA games will fully merge with today's mobile game design.
Then it will be my turn to laugh.
Are we seeing the downfall of Bioware, Bethesda and Rockstar in front of our eyes
it seems like 76, Anthem and RDR 2 were all bombas compared to their usual output

I'm pretty sure a lot of mobile games make the gameplay unfun on purpose (by adding "energy systems"/waiting to do stuff, gacha dice rolls, etc.) so that they can "empower" you to surmount the unfun aspects of the gameplay by buying microtransactions so you can "get to the fun stuff"What's even more surprising than the microtransactions is how the game plays. That battle system looks shockingly boring.
Era reads Reddit.
Not really. Bethesda probably just saw the writing on the wall when the majority of their SP games tanked. Their pivot is pretty logical. This gen has been such a bizarre about-face for Bethesda. They went from being a top-tier developer of industry-defining RPGs that was occasionally misleading on minor things to releasing awful, trash-tier GaaS and mobile games.
Their fall from grace would put Icarus to shame, and was seemingly spurred on by nothing. It's like they just decided to start having universally bad ideas.
what im trying to say is Rockstar is putting all the resources in on RDR online and its not making the money they were expecting like GTA online so it offsets the incredible sales
The industry term is "fun pain," coined and formalized at Zynga.I'm pretty sure a lot of mobile games make the gameplay unfun on purpose (by adding "energy systems"/waiting to do stuff, gacha dice rolls, etc.) so that they can "empower" you to surmount the unfun aspects of the gameplay by buying microtransactions so you can "get to the fun stuff"
True, it can always get worse but I'm already at a point where I'm done buying these games so in the end it doesn't change much for me when publishers decide to stoop even lower.I believe it's going to get way worse and here's why:
Streaming and sub services that don't require a console or going to bring in Mobile audiences. With their spending habits and their touch screens and all.
AAA games will be dumbed down and casinofied in a way that will leave us begging for battlefront 2.
But by that logic, why not release more of the SP games that don't tank? Not really. Bethesda probably just saw the writing on the wall when the majority of their SP games tanked. Their pivot is pretty logical.
This is true. That was the last Bethesda game I loved. The last time they put out a good RPG, one could argue, was with Morrowind.
It's a mobile game, I wouldn't expect anything else. There is a reason why many people don't take mobile gaming seriously.
Now back to our regularly scheduled Bethesda bashing.
Trash tier developer? Lmao

I love how one game marks Bethesda'a downfall (a shitty mobile spinoff doesnt count) and how RDR2 was a bombaAre we seeing the downfall of Bioware, Bethesda and Rockstar in front of our eyes

The last time they made a super successful game, unarguably, was the 2nd most recent game they made. The last time they put out a good RPG, one could argue, was with Morrowind.

Right, and Fallout 4 was fun, but it was far from being a good RPG.The last time they made a super successful game, unarguably, was the 2nd most recent game they made.
Sure but that doesn't mean they're doomed.Right, and Fallout 4 was fun, but it was far from being a good RPG.

Right, I never said that. I just said they don't make good RPGs anymore.

Nah I'll be mad at both. Fuck the market working that way, fuck Bethesda for taking part in it.this is just how the market works on mobile. Dont be mad at bethesda be mad at capitalism

There are plenty of excellent mobile games. Educate yourself rather than naively writing off a huge section of the market.
