They gave the position to the one guy who told them not to make a PS Classic, Jim "why the fuck would you play old games" Ryan.

Read the article. He's still the network guyUhhhhh wasn't it Kodera that was heading up all the background stuff recently with babe changes & increased storage? I know I read somewhere that he's a network guy. What's going on?

Or, he could be the sort of individual that urged them to spend as little as possible in developing the thing, resulting in the abysmal product that was released.
Didn't realise he'd been there since 1994. That's definitely impressive.Reading up on Ryan, wow. He's been with SIEE since 1994, and was the main dude in charge since 2011. Damn. He's been doing some good things over there.
Thank you for pointing that out. Makes me a little more comfortable.
Ryan says dumb shit, especially about BC, but it's the old exec maneuver of shitting on whatever you don't have to make it seem unimportant. If they have it, he'll be singing its praisesHope this doesn't mean no backwards compability.
Please man, just this once don't fuck it up.
And also to be expected. Can't even be bothered to complain about it anymore.
Don't have a great feeling about this. Getting Don Mattrick vibes...
I didnt say otherwise. Nor do I think he's a bad pick. Also one of the main people who made Playstation dominate in Europe. But who cares about that.

Wonder why they canned Kodera so quickly?
Yes they've really fucked up by promoting the guy who has been with the company since 1994 and is the reason why PlayStation dominates everyone else in Europe. They truly did. The guy knows what he is doing.
It's people that think that what one person dreaming up an off-the-cuff excuse as to why the corporation doesn't implement BC means that PS5 isn't getting BC.
HehHow am I supposed to cheerlead an executive of a corporation when he looks like my drunken Irish uncle?
He basically already is Sony's Don Mattrick.Don't have a great feeling about this. Getting Don Mattrick vibes...
Yeah, he just went to the room where they do the PS5 and crossed out BC on the board. It was a weird decision given that R&D and supply chain management still takes years to plan and execute but somehow he managed to change the hardware design months after it was probably finalized.Hope this doesn't mean no backwards compability.

Businessman not a gamers/software experienced president like Iwata or Spencer? The guy who is one of the leading people making Playstation dominate in Europe is giving you Don Mattrick vibes? How?

Woah boy, imagine if we get backwards compatibility.
People will be so confused.
Businessman not a gamers/software experienced president like Iwata or Spencer?
That's how?
