January-March 2019, potentially one of the greatest seasons for Japanese gaming?

I can't remember the last time I wanted to play so many games in such a short time span, and all of them Made In Japan, and coincidentally three of those games are from long dormant franchises that fans have been dying to see return. Great time to be a fan of this hobby.

Japan has been doing great this generation and the tail end of the last. It's nice to have this variety again.

It's really, really fantastic. KH3, REMake 2, DMC5, and Sekiro are all on the day 1 list. Going to be a busy few months...

Yeah it's great. Wished they were more of a JRPG but definitely Sekiro is on top of the list for them followed by DMCV

2017 was pretty great too, we had RE7, Yakuza 0, Nioh, Nier, Persona, and Zelda within the first few months.

I keep forgetting about Nioh and Yakuza 0 (but I did not really care for these two as much as I do for what is in early 2019)

Same time period, 2017. RE7, Zelda, Nier, Persona (early April) and Yakuza Zero

Also, Horizon but that's not Japanese. 2017 was packed!

Literally every game on the OP's list is one I want to play at one point or another, although I'll have to pick and choose due to limited time and money. It's crazy to feel that way.

If Judgement was releasing in that span I'd say yes. As is 2017 was better.

Nothing is ever going to beat playing Yakuza 0, Nioh, Persona 5 and NieR Automata back to back for me. Add re7, BoTW to that as well.
But 2019 has got the new fromsoft game, I will give it that.

Take out Ace Combat and DoA and throw in both Cold Steel releases and that is my list for the next 3 months. It is insane.

Sekiro, DMC5, REmake 2 and KH3 are all purchases for me. Not sure on DOA6 yet, might wait on that. But add in Ryu Ga Gotoku 4 (Japanese remaster was released yesterday) technically I started Judge Eyes late. So pretty much my first 4 months of gaming is solely Japanese releases. So good!

2017 (my personal rating) -
- Resident Evil VII: Biohazard (8.0/10)
- Yakuza Zero (8.5/10)
- Nier Automata (8.5/10)

2019 (expected rating for me) -
- New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe (8.0/10, already completed)
- Resident Evil 2 (9.0/10 or 9.5/10)
- Left Alive (8.0/10)
- Devil May Cry 5 (8.5/10)
- Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (8.0-9.0/10)
- Yoshi's Crafted World (8.0/10)

Would definitely say that on paper, 2019 is easily better than 2017 but at the same time, it doesn't count unless I complete those games. REmake2 is a guaranteed playthrough with both Claire and Leon. Already completed NSMBUD and the rest are honestly all 50/50. Will come down to how much I actually like them and get invested while playing early on.

Might have missed stuff for 2016, but indeed, I would say 2017 would be up there for one of the best seasons for Japanese games. 2015 is up there just because of Bloodborne, but on the whole, many were remasters and such.

it's a seriously potent 3 months that's for sure. 2017 was pretty great too but this one takes the cake for me cause sekiro looks to be some serious shit.

They really love sequels I guess. Sekiro will be a goty candidate for sure. It's pretty much locked for me.

January: REmake 2(25), Kingdom Hearts 3(29), Dragon Marked For Death(31)
February: Etrian Odyssey Nexus(5)
March: Devil May Cry V(8), Sekiro(22)

And yes, this might be the best 3 months ever.

Early 2017 was better imo and because all the games OP mentioned are PS4 only in Japan, i wonder how much they will sell there.
