Filming in Jamaica has begun, and they're shooting with Imax cameras. Also very much digging the vibes from these Max Payne 3/buddy cop set photos.

David Dencik's character name has been revealed to be Waldo. And is participating in Jamaica. We also know that he is a villain.

Are there any truth to those British tabloid rumors about Daniel Craig being very difficult to work with on the Bond25 set? Probably just need to sell papers, since they also say only the start of the script is finished.

It's also gonna be interesting if the rumor of Dua Lipa doing the theme song will turn out true.

I haven't seen anything specifically saying he's difficult to work with, only that he has high demands from the production as far as his health and fitness go. Which I think is totally fair. He's talked before about how gruelling it is staying in shape whilst making these movies, and he's over a decade older than when he started, so it just sounds like he's taking it very seriously on set so he can put the work in.

It sounds like he has a pretty high degree of creative control (part of why Boyle got canned was Craig allegedly didn't like his choice for the villain, and he's specifically requested a lot of the directors and talent he's worked with), and it's a demanding role so he probs isn't always in the best of moods, but I don't think I've ever heard anything credible about him being particularly difficult to work with

So glad to see Ana de Armas get new big roles. For a moment after Blade Runner I feared she would fade into obscurity.

He's been saying that every single day for the last twelve years.
Ana is in Rian Johnson's Knives Out too btw. I agree though, glad she's getting more big roles. She's great.

That's great. When I looked on imdb a little while after Blade Runner there was just one or two small upcoming projects.

In any case it'll be better than Spectre, not that it's hard, but Lea Seydoux was in it and I've found her remarkably unlikable in all the movies I've seen her in :/
But that was the least of the movie's problems.

Can't speak for Bond25, but I heard an anecdote from an actor friend who was in Spectre and has connections with the stunt team that work on Bond movies, that Daniel Craig basically shut production down early for the day on Skyfall because of getting pissed with Sam Mendes. The reason given seemed fair enough though.

They were shooting the sequence when Silva escapes through the London Underground and Mendes had Craig running repeatedly after the tube train, take after take after take. Eventually Craig snapped, told Mendes his knees were fucked, and shut down production for the day.

Don't know if thread worthy due to the source, but some rumors

https://pagesix.com/2019/04/25/theres-already-trouble-in-paradise-on-new-james-bond-set/

A source close to Bond 25 said, "They don't have a script, there's no title, it is nearly five years since the last Bond. It starts with a retired Bond living in wedded bliss, but the rest of the script is still being worked over. They rolled out the cast this week at Ian Fleming's villa in Jamaica because if they wait much longer Daniel Craig, who is 51, will be too old, and then he really won't do the film."

Brief details of the plot find Bond called back into action when his CIA cohort Felix Leiter, played by Jeffrey Wright, turns up asking for help to rescue a kidnapped scientist. It has been rumored that the plot would also touch heavily on the dangers of powerful tech or social media platforms falling into nefarious hands.

The source added of curmudgeonly Craig's return, "Everyone on the production side detests working with Daniel, he's so difficult and makes things impossible. But [Bond producer] Barbara Broccoli thinks he walks on water, and only her opinion matters.

There does seem to be truth to the reports of them constantly rewriting the script. Baz Bamigboye from Daily Mail is supposedly reliable and have joined in and said these things:

'She's writing a re-write of a re-write,' a film-making source told me of Waller-Bridge's recent involvement in the project.

'Daniel's writing. Cary's writing. The crew reckon they're working on a well-polished s*** show.

'They have an outline of plot, but dialogue is all last-minute. It's not the way to make a movie. I would imagine they'll sort it out in the cutting room. That's where most movies get made anyway. But you'd think the Bond lot would be more together.'

That's kind of exciting to be honest. If the plot is in limbo, that would be a worry, but if they are mostly tweaking the tone and dialogue with Waller-Bridge and the key players involved, that hopefully means something a little different and more personal is going to come out of it.

For reference, the last two Mission Impossible started filming with barely 30 pages drafts. Same with multiple MCU movies.

It will be okay.

Hell yeah

Really hoping for the best on this one. I can't believe they still haven't figured out how to sort out the script problems. Why are they still letting these idiots write Bond films after the debacle of Spectre?

Purvis and Wade are convenient to have around the writing process for the Broccolis, because they are loyal and they can directly do the producers bidding on scripts, there will never be 'creative differences' with them.

After Spectre there's no other logical answer. 5 years and they couldn't get it together.

I mean, they wrote Die Another Day, as well. That was their debut (as a duo - one of them co-wrote The World is Not Enough, which is also deeply troubled at the script level). And they're still here! How good Casino Royale was can only take you so far, surely.

I'm personally charmed by the fact that Bond is still a family affair, I just wish it didn't mean the shabby handling of the logistics and rights to the point we have to wait 5+ years and then just hope the movie is good.

Purvis and Wade's scripts are basically just used as skeletons for other writers to come and patch over. From what I understand they have a decent handling of structure and action writing, as well as a knowledge of the franchise, and then the bevy of other writers come in and turn their stuff into something that's actually workable (or not, in the case of Spectre). I can see why they are kept around to get the ball rolling.

As for Bond 25's script troubles, obviously we'd all feel better if they had one completely locked down at this stage, but honestly this isn't a very uncommon thing for big Hollywood productions and is far from a quality indicator. Die Hard for example filmed like half the movie before they figured out what Grubers ultimate plan was and how they would end the movie. But I don't think Bond 25's script is in as serious throes as that, and it's mostly dialogue that's being punched up currently.

Btw, filming in Jamaica has wrapped.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge has also had an interview with The Hollywood Reporter podcast, and it seems like she joined the team earlier than what we were led to believe as a last-minute addition.

She also had this to say about Bond 25:

"I think I'm still processing it. It's really exciting. The film they've got is such an exciting story. It's just been a joy to work on,"

When asked if she was bringing a feminist humour to the script, she said: "We'll see, we'll see what I can sneak in. I was really just making them feel like real people" [referencing the female characters in the script]. "Daniel's films have had really fantastic Bond Girls and it's just keeping up with that."

Phoebe Waller-Bridge has had an interview with the Daily Mail:

"We have a script and we're continuing to work on it, all of us floating ideas around and creating characters together. I love the character of Bond. I love that he exists in a grey area, in that he does terrible things and yet he does them for the right reasons. Nowadays we have questions about patriotism – is it worth all of this that Bond does, is it worth taking a life? I think these are very pertinent questions these days."

"You've got to make sure the actors have something fun to work with. I don't mean fun as in, "Woo-hoo!" But I do find, from an actor's point of view, that playing something that shows a twist, or a surprise, or something about a character that people didn't expect to see, is something that really grounds me in my character. One thing I'm doing here is making sure there's an authenticity to these characters so that the actors have something solid they can hold onto."

I'm pretty excited about Phoebe Waller-Bridge having been on board for some time now.

They're also supposed to film at the Pinewood Studios in London this coming weekend. Jeffrey Wright has already been around. But a The Sun report claims Daniel Craig hurt his ankle at the end of the Jamaica filming. We'll learn soon enough if this ones true or not:

"He was sprinting during filming when he slipped and fell quite awkwardly," the source said. "He was in quite a lot of pain and was complaining about his ankle."

That's the thing I can't get over. It's not unusual for movies of this size to be rewriting basically on the fly. But Eon has had their longest gap between Bond movies since Dalton left and they're still in that fly-by-the-seat-of-their-pants mode? What the hell was everyone else doing all this time?

Apparently Craig had a boo boo on set. Can't remember how reliable Sun is, but if Variety is picking it up there might be something there.

The difficult road to production on the latest James Bond film has hit another hurdle after shooting was reportedly suspended following an injury to star Daniel Craig. According to British newspaper The Sun, the actor fell while sprinting on the set in Jamaica last week and has been flown to the U.S. for X-rays, resulting in a suspension of the shoot.

The newspaper cited an unnamed source as saying that Craig was shooting one of his final scenes in Jamaica. "He was sprinting during filming when he slipped and fell quite awkwardly," the source said. "He was in quite a lot of pain and was complaining about his ankle."

While it is unknown how long the production might be delayed, The Sun reports that filming at London's iconic Pinewood Studios, which had been scheduled to begin at the end of the week, has been canceled.

The Sun is a tabloid rag so I would take it with a big grain of salt I think. Jeffery Wright was at Pinewood yesterday so it certainly didn't seem like filming was suspended. But Craig has gotten injured on pretty much every Bond movie so it's not unbelievable either.

Interesting interview with Phoebe, she seems pretty involved with all aspects of the script. Now I will be setting myself up for disappointment if it isn't a marked improvement on the last two.

About Lea Seydoux (Madeleine Swann):

She haven't actually filmed anything in Jamaica, and was only there for the cast reveal.

She will be filming in Italy this Summer for the pre-credit car chase scene apparently.

Daniel Craig was also spotted at Pinewood Studios two days ago, but will be undergoing his ankle surgery soon and stay put for two weeks.

Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye reveals premise for Bond 25:

"The movie's premise is genetic warfare, which is fascinating — but you gotta boil it down and make it accessible," the source said. It was this need for accessibility (and humor) that got Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Killing Eve) involved with the script. "That's why Phoebe was hired. She has somehow made sense of it."

There's no need for anything based on complex science to actually be complex to understand in an action film. What a bizarre statement.
