I've been playing through the game on Ps Now, and man, this is a truly great FPS.
The mood, the punchy weapons, the encounters (the bar defense sequence, the boat, the giant spider), its all absolutely stellar and I'm only midway through it.
But the presentation. Damn, it really feels like the ps3 is on it's last breath to run this game. The super low sub-hd resolution and the choppy (and sometimes terrible) framerate really bring the experience down. I thought it might be because of PS Now, but I have a 100 mb/s connection on cable, and after watching some YouTube videos of the game I can see its not the stream service fault (although some arctifacting is noticeable on darker scenes)
The art direction is so fantastic, everything is very dynamic, from the vegetation and electric cables blowing in the wind, to the enemy ragdolls flying around with explosions, the spaceships lights making a beautiful dance of light and shadow around the scenery.... But all this with a hugely blurry resolution and an extremely choppy framerate.
I think that if this game released on PS4 at 1080p and 60fps, or hell, even a rock solid 30fps, it could benefit so much from it.
It's really all that is missing from this great FPS.. It's hardware powerful enough to bring its vision to life without compromise.
Just wanted to let this out because I'm really in love with this game, but it's hard to ignore the technical problems.
What did you think of Resistance 3 when you first played it on ps3? Was it already a choppy experience or am I just used to the newer consoles that provide a much crisper image and mostly solid framerates?
Any other games that were clearly struggling to run last gen that you feel could benefit greatly from a remaster?
