For what it's worth, despite taking the opportunity to laugh at weird things in the nerd sphere, I do think this is a fair assessment and a valid concern. A lot of fanfiction and the like is corrective, so to speak: adding diversity where they can't find it, taking media written for a male audience and spinning it for a female perspective, and so on.
So it's a very different situation where the "correction" moves in the direction seen in the OP.

Sure, but it being done to gay characters feels somewhat akin to mods and fanart that whitewashes poc characters. It's maybe not the most tasteful way to treat a character. That said, bi people do exist, as one other poster pointed out, and I haven't played the game so I don't know whether or not I'm uncomfortable with someone depicting this character thusly.

Dunno, the Supernatural brothers thing always struck me as something people did because it was fun and naughty and taboo. Not because they would be into the actual thing. They're fictional characters, so whatever.

Sort of, it was a brother/sister game but the focus of the game was the little sister, not the big brother so the game didn't really hint at any incestuous wants from the sister (though I guess an alternate take on the game is the game represented the relationship she wished she had but that wasn't my interpretation).
Also the video game was hidden in an anime DVD case,not on her computer.
Edit: haven't actually seen the show, just looked it up on Wikipedia, so don't look to me to be a knowledgeable source on the show.

Honestly as long as the ship isn't between a character that abuses the person they are shipped with and the author dose a 5 second "Actually they aren't really related at all!" excuse for characters that are related to each other in the original work. I don't care anymore. There are bigger things in life to think about then someone making their own non stories lol.
