Apple got the ball rolling on this at all. Then Google reacted to Apple. Not sure what you are trying to say here. Apple gave them, 24 hours, I am sure the app will be pulled soon.Yeah Apple is dumb as shit here. Should have never gave an ultimatum in the first place - only allows Parler to organize, prepare, and develop contingencies.
Not sure how such dumb people would be working over there at Apple.
What I'm saying is that they should not have given them time to figure their shit out. It should have been pulled immediately. Apple put out the first statement regarding Parler, but they don't get any props for just speaking. They need to act.Apple got the ball rolling on this at all. Then Google reacted to Apple. That's a pretty massive way to help given so many are declaring they want to abandon Twitter due to them banning Trump and others.Does removing the app from the store still allow people who already downloaded it to continue using it? Not sure how much that could help then other than to prevent new users hopping on.
They can do it either way. They can pull it from the store and people who have it will keep it but parler won't be able to update or they can do a full purge and nuke it off people's phones by removing their signature which allows the phone to execute the app.Does removing the app from the store still allow people who already downloaded it to continue using it? Apple has the ability to remotely nuke apps but I don't think they've done that yet for any major apps (someone correct me if I'm wrong). It's likely they'll just remove it from the App Store.
However, since the reason for removal is to stop the app from inciting violence and not some financial reason like the Fortnite removal, this would be the time to use that nuclear option if there was ever a time.
Apple made the announcement first, and then Google not long after decided to just take it down.Didn't google already remove it? Do you really want to die on this hill Apple? Yeesh
Yup. Absolute idiots.Apple shouldn't have warned them. They became the #1 downloaded app after that announcement.
Agreed. They know what they are in for. They are getting everything ready. Most likely why they gave them 24 hours in the first place.I wonder if the reason for the delay is high level discussions with execs, PR, and legal about whether to simply remove the app from the store or to remove it plus nuke it from peoples' phones. If it's the latter, that's the sort of move that - from Apple's perspective - will necessitate preparing communication and legal work and all that before pushing that button.
Yes. Also, it's just like Twitter. A web browser is all you need.Does removing the app from the store still allow people who already downloaded it to continue using it? Not sure how much that could help then other than to prevent new users hopping on.
yup its a ready made fbi watch list/honey pot.
Doesn't seem like a reason to delay a removal from the store. If they're in full agreement that it should be removed they can do that instantly and decide later whether to nuke it.I wonder if the reason for the delay is high level discussions with execs, PR, and legal about whether to simply remove the app from the store or to remove it plus nuke it from peoples' phones. I was wondering who they were hosted under. Surprised Amazon hasn't said anything......yet.I feel like having the apps banned is more symbolic than anything... can't people just use the web browser? Amazon's in the best position to cripple them since that is where their web services are being hosted.
Yep, still up for me too.
The only silly thing is Apple's dumb 24 hour warning. And it's still up anyway.
Still up on the store atm, so not sure about that sourcing yet.
Yep, still up for me too.
Even tried a different browser just in case it was cached.
Yeah because it took them a couple hours longer than they said people jumped to conclusions that they werent gonna do it. People posting that stuff look silly.

We're dealing with coordination of murder of elected officials and insurrection against the US. Sorry if people calling out Apple for a slow response upsets you.Yeah because it took them a couple hours longer than they said people jumped to conclusions that they werent gonna do it. I am sure it is just filtering through CDNs to get it pulled. It's not instant.
Yup, app is probably still cached on those servers. Could take some time.I am sure it is just filtering through CDNs to get it pulled. It's not instant.
