I thought now would be a good time to look at how our Switch libraries are shaping up. In my case, I kinda cheated & edited in Smash (which I'm getting this Friday) & Mega Man 11 (which I asked for for Christmas), both of which I'll get physically.

DtcuZ32U0AAA8WF.jpg

Smash & MM11 aside, here are my hours...
  • Splatoon 2: 275 hours
  • Zelda BotW: 235 hours
  • ARMS: 140 hours
  • Xenoblade 2: 130 hours
  • MK8D: 65 hours
  • Odyssey: 55 hours
  • Sonic Mania: 35 hours
  • Xenoblade 2 Torna: 20 hours
  • Fortnite: 5 hours
  • NES Online: A little while

I sold SMO and Splatoon 2 so now my Switch library consists of a grand total of 2 games: BotW and XB2.

Mostly F2P games like Arena of Valor, Fortnite, Warframe, and such, as well as some demos.

I literally don't own any Switch game right now, I most buy and sell my retail console games.

Minecraft, Scribblenauts and Fortnite for kids.
Tumblestone for wife.
Wonderboy for me.

Got my eye on a few but not until they get a decent discount so maybe never!

Meh. MK8, Mario, Captain Toad, Sonic Mania Plus, Pokémon and a couple demos. Also borrowed BotW off a friend and am planning on getting Mario Party and Smash Bros by the end of the week. Not huge, but then again my consoles are mostly used for exclusives.

MK8
Odyssey
And will be picking up Smash.

Bought the Switch around the summer of this year. Thinking of picking up Octopath, but only when it gets a deep discount. Regreted paying full price for Odyssey.

Overall, pretty happy with the Switch library. I wish it had a better Mario game, as I didn't care for Odyssey much. If 3D World makes it over, that will fill the void for me. Once Yoshi, Metriod and Luigi's Mansion 3 releases, I'll be perfectly satisfied.

Physical:

Captain Toad,
Crash Bandicoot
Dark Souls
Doom
DK:TF
MK8D
Mario + Rabbids
Mario Tennis Aces(turd)
Octopath Traveler
Pokemon Lets Go
RE Revelations 1 & 2
Splatoon 2
Skyrim

Super Mario Odyssey
Super Mario Party(turd)
BotW
Wolfenstein II
Xenoblade II

Digital:
Snipperclips
Steamworld Dig 2
Strikers 1945
Shovel Knight Treasure Trove
Hollow Knight
Fast RMX
VS. Super Mario Bros
King of Fighters '98
Lighting Force
Stardew Valley
Metal Slug

Soon to be added Friday:
Super Smash Brothers Ultimate Special Edition
Sega Genesis Classics

Only bought Hollow Knight and Pokemon this year.

Next year looks promising but this year was a huge bummer for me personally.

Just three physical games for me. Mario Kart, Zelda, and Super Mario and Smash in a few days.
Good enough for me since I completely skipped the Wii U.

Today? It looks okay. About 9 games I've enjoyed/put some time into.

Hopefully by summer of next year it'll look better! Katamari, Civ VI (I'm waiting until I have free time for this tbf), FF9, FFCC, Animal Crossing, FE:TH, Daemon x Machina, Bayonetta 3, Mineko's Night Market, Goose Game, Wargroove--I know some of these have no release dates but I'm hoping some are earlier rather than later.

I'm approaching 40 games, which is easily the fastest I've ever grown a collection for a console. So needless to say, it's looking pretty good.

I got BotW, Odyssey, S+R, Diablo 3, Xenoblade 2 + Torna, Mario Tennis, Mario Party, Minecraft, and Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu. Sold Wolfenstein 2 and Doom due to how bad they run on Switch.

It's alright but definitely disappointed right now with my launch day purchase. It can be easily fixed with Fire Emblem and exclusive jrpgs though

I just bought mine on BF and only have WF and stardew valley so far, which is enough to start. Friday i should be getting Smash Bros in the mail. I mostly use it for my daily commutes so I need games that I can play for 45 minutes at a time or so.

I own about 48 games for the system, which I bought at launch. I'll easily crack 50 before 2019. Gonna need that 512 GB card real quick.

Having been gaming since the NES and buying my own stuff since the GameCube era, I've never had this many games for a console this briefly into its lifespan. The combination of going all-digital, the system's hybrid form factor, and its library's focus on the trifecta of Nintendo, indies and retro has just hit one hell of a sweet spot for me.

To be honest, I almost stopped using other systems altogether. The only games I played on PS4 all year are Edith Finch, Hellblade, NnK2, 428, DQXI and the Persona Dancing games. I've always been more of a handheld person despite only playing at home and Switch's is pretty much the ideal at home handheld. I just really enjoy using the hardware. And as a disclaimer, I received review codes for a good chunk of those games I listed.

Breath of the Wild
Mario Odyssey
Xenoblade 2
Mario x Rabbids
Mario Kart
Bayo 1
Bayo 2
Dragon Quest Builder
Donkey Kong
Diablo 3
MonHun GenUlt
Lost Sphear
Golf Story
Fire Emblem Warriors
Hyrule Warriors
Skyrim

And I bought Skylink yesterday (couldnt resist the starter pack for 37.50 what a mega duper bomba that was) and should have it by friday.

So pretty healthy I think, especially considering I had exactly 1 game on the Wii (zelda TP) and 2 games on the Wii U (zombiu and funky farm lol), I hadnt played or cared about a nintendo system like this since... err the gamecube I guess but im pretty sure I already own more Switch games than I had GC ones.

That's everything I've wanted so far, only one I regret is Pokken, skipped it on Wii U so thought I'd check it out the second time around and yeah, I was right to skip it.

I think I'm around 40 games by now. I could buy a lot more, but I'm forcing myself to not get more than one new game at a time so I actually work on my backlog instead of just collecting files. What I really need is time to play everything...

25 games in total.

I only made one disappointing purchase in 2017 (Tiny Metal) but a whopping 11 in 2018! Not a great year. Thankfully 2019 is looking pretty sweet.

Pleased with
  • Mario Odyssey
  • Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
  • Splatoon 2
  • Mario Kart 8
  • Mario + Rabbids
  • Into The Breach
  • Yoku's Island Express
  • Steamworld Heist
  • Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition
  • Rogue Aces
  • The Gardens Between
  • Pinball FX3 and various packs
  • Civilization 6
Displeased with
  • Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
  • Mario Tennis
  • Starlink
  • Marble It Up
  • Gridd
  • Darkest Dungeon
  • Overcooked
  • Slayaway Camp
  • Battle Chef Brigade
  • Tiny Metal
  • Labo
  • Fast RMX

Mh. I'm excluding f2p games I only installed and never game any serious play time:

  • Mario Odyssey
  • Mario & Rabbids Kingdom Battle
  • Mario Kart 8
  • Diablo 3
  • Stardew Valley
  • Hollow Knight
  • Minecraft
  • Rocket League
  • Overcooked
  • Lovers in a dangerous Spacetime
  • Pokemon Let's Go Evee (will be a christmas gift for us)
By my standards, that's a lot on a Nintendo system we've had for just short of a year. Greatest regret is that I cannot possibly give these games all the time they deserve. Which is also what keeps me from going out to buy more games, because even taking into account Nintendo's output alone since launch, there'd be a few. Played BotW on the WiiU, so it's not in there.

I'm pretty stoked about the switch library, t.b.h.. It's the first time I'm observing Nintendo getting high profile 3rd party support. Combined wwith the unique portable form factor I've made more use of than I initially expected, it's absolutely glorious. The lack of the like of RDR2 and BF5 etc. are a pity, but hey, no harm in having another system for those.

Nothing by Nintendo in 2018 at all, and I don't play Smash either.

In spite of this I have 42 games in total. I regret plenty of those, and should really force myself to play through more of them.

It's looking a whole lot like my library at the end of 2017, I've bought Dead Cells, Pokémon and Diablo III. Maybe one or two more that I'm forgetting.

BOTW, Dark Souls, Xenocrap 2, Blossom Tales, Toki Tori 2, Steamworld Dig 2, Mario & Rabbids.

Overal the library has been disappointingly small when it comes to games I didn't already play elsewhere, I'm hoping for more games I want next year.
