I've played and owned most James Bond games (except Legends, not that one, which murdered the license).
Goldeneye was a classic, it's remake not so much but I bought it as stans do. I liked Nightfire, and Everything or Nothing.
I really enjoyed a couple of Activision attempts too. The Quantum of Solace game actually was split and covers both Casino Royale (my all time favorite film, not just in the franchise but as a movie in general) and its epilogue feature Quantum of Solace. The game was actually super well paced, picked some great scenes to play, and even had a multiplayer community for the first time in a while for the license.
Activision didn't rest too long on getting creative and also put out Bizarre Creations (Project Gotham Racing) last game, Blood Stone. This one upped the polish after the last game since it was a longer original project. It had the film cast, but picked new places and events to follow. Overall it was really nicely done at least on presentation. Sure it was flawed but I had fun.
Well then things went south. Activision ported their Goldeneye remake and it did well overall, but it was a little bland as someone who knew the original game. But what could they do next? Skyfall was much later to come than expected (Quantum of Solace came out in 2008, and Skyfall not until 2012 making for a longer gap than the owners intended compared to the 2 year gap in Craig's prior films as Bond). So they decided to make Legends, a celebration of the 50th anniversary. This game took the idea behind Goldeneye Remake of reimagining the story with Daniel Craig, and decided to apply it to several random settings from several different Bond films. So no one film was getting a full adaptation or story this time. Well guess what, it wasn't great. So that studio closed too.
Activision pulled the franchise from storefronts Without warning so you can't buy them anymore and lost the license.
So 7 years later we have no Bond in sight. Yes, Hitman 3 is coming and the last two from that team are better than 007 ever was.
But we deserve both.
