Is this the most recognizable theme in gaming history?

I played dota for a while, am I the only one that skips the intro right away? But i guess one big "thud" is enough to be recognizable?
Billions have probably played Mario 1-1 if you count piracy. It's not even close.

Pokémon and FF would probably be over Halo too (not that Halo isn't instantly recognizable as well).
I think you have to go in a very specific bubble to not have heard the Halo theme in 20 years.
47-year-old lifelong gamer. I recognize it, at least. But I'd rank it below at least a couple hundred other songs.

I'd put Halo over those because with FF, I'm like which theme? And Pokemon took me a moment.
No soccer mom will recognize the halo or half-life theme. I bet a decent percentage would recognize mario.
I have never played a Halo game so how am I supposed to know it? I probably heard it watching E3 or something but I can't remember it at all.
Halo's popularity is relatively NA-centric. The FF prelude and Pokémon main theme are globally recognized. That's why I'd put them higher.
Halo isn't even a worldwide franschise. There are many kids growing up in Asia like me who never touched Halo. Mario on the other hand, even my mom can recognize the theme.
Mario, Sonic, Pokemon, Tetris, Pacman, Zelda, Simon Belmont's, Guile's, Mega Man, Doom are all more well known. Even what the OP posted is more known than Halo because of Steam users.
Fun scrolling through this playing songs for my friend, she definitely instantly got OG Mario over all else. Everything else took a second or two.

But I did overlook that Halo is more NA centric, but it was on PC.
Mario or Tetris since it still gets references across different shows, movies, etc. Halo theme isn't memorable.
When it was on PC before, it wasn't that big relative to how huge it was on consoles.
Halo's theme is embedded into American pop culture, but Pokemon or Sonic are global.
When and how has it been accessible on PC? I know about the MC collection but I am ignorant enough to not know about it in the past. I played the original Half Life when it was released and even Half Life 2 but I don't ever remember saying to myself that I need to play Halo on PC, because I never knew it existed on PC. I just knew it was a huge game on XBOX. I always recognized Halo visually but not through sound.
BTW I intend on purchasing Halo on Steam.

I didn't say "and that's why it's more recognizable than the Mario theme". Obviously Mario is more recognizable.
Just that a lot of people hear the Valve theme every day.
Mario obviously but has anyone mentioned Guile's theme? I'm sure, it's been seven pages, but it's the biggest meme-theme for sure right?

No. It's Mario, it's not close. And I think people are hugely overestimating the Tetris theme. At least in people being able to recognize what it's from.
I'd say it depends on which part of the world you are from. The popularity of console gaming versus PC gaming is not uniform across the world.
