Is there a need for Xbox in the gaming industry?

When you think about every console and developers role in the industry, I tend to think of Nintendo in there own lane with there massive IPs and then Xbox/PlayStation fight in a similar land, sharing many massive titles and going for big tech and the ultimate quality console gaming experience.

PlayStation 4 trashed Xbox One last generation, I fear the same will happen to Xbox in the upcoming generation. PlayStation does everyone Xbox does, but with way better exclusives and often better hardware. Is there a "point" for Xbox to be in the market?

No one else is going to make Forza Horizon, so there's a huge need for Xbox.

First of all, the "quality" of a game has many subjective elements.

Second, we don't even know what that quality is going to look like for either Playstation or Xbox come next gen. If you had asked this question in the 360 days you'd have gotten some interesting responses.
