Trials Rising is releasing this month yet I see no hype at all. It's not listed as an "Anticipated release" in the monthly eshop thread, and anecdotally, people don't seem to talk about it.

I remember how beloved Trials HD was a generation ago, and Trials Fusion was well-received, what happened? Did it get stale? Too many controllers destroyed?

"Is the Trial series dead"

"Trials Rising is releasing this month"

End thread.

It sells okay I guess - it is pretty fun but it always is the same. So that's why there's no "hype". Doesn't mean people won't buy it.

I know I'm in day one, but I wouldn't say I'm hyped. Just happy I get to play some more Trials.

I've no idea if the fanbase is interested in it, but it's pretty weird to say a series that's about to get a new release and even has a DLC plan laid out is dead.

I wanted to get it on Switch because I've never played one before, but i've heard the lack of analogue triggers is going to be a problem.

I played the closed beta a while back and it was VERY rough which for such a technically undemanding game is incredibly worrying. I'm not holding out much hope for this being particularly good but I really want it to be.

Feel like this games always run way worse than they should on PC at least

one of my two most hyped games for 2019 (the other being Spelunky 2)

seems like more Evo and less Fusion, which is 100% what I want

I fucking loved Trials Evolution for the short time I had a 360 so I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Trials fans want what they want, and it's not necessarily a game with wide appeal. So everyone already knows if it's for them or not. And Trials fans are hanging out in Twitch streams and on YouTube and Reddit, they're not going off about it on main.

Games never die, they're just missing in action.

I don't go around telling everyone that I'm excited for the last season of Game of Thrones. I see no reason to talk about a sure thing for me

Had completely forgotten about it until I saw a trailer for the season pass this morning. Have always enjoyed Trials gameplay and the crossover with the Blood Dragon IP wasn't even different enough to get me to go in on it.

Best of luck to it, but idk what makes it different.

I feel like the lack of hype can be explained by the sheer volume of Trials games that have released since Ubisoft took over the franchise. There has been Evolution, Fusion, Frontier on phones, Trials of the Blood Dragon, multiple games worth of DLC for Fusion and now Rising.

Let RedLynx make something else.

I was very excited before I played the beta, which was astoundingly bad. The gameplay was great, obviously, but literally everything around it was just junk. Bugs and poor optimisation everywhere, loot boxes, a horrible convoluted level-select system.

It's Trials, you just want to boot it, load a track, and play it. Ubisoft does not want you to do that.

I'm excited for the new one on Switch.

Finally a portable Trials game that doesn't have the ridiculous timers or fuel limitations like the mobile version (which was a damn shame, it plays surprisingly well on mobile).

But I doubt I'll get it day one, I just have so much to play already and I'm sure by summer or maybe call it'll be discounted and I'll hopefully have a smaller backlog by then.

Trials of the Blood Dragon got pretty bad reviews, and even Fusion seemed like it wasn't as well received by the community as its 80 metascore would indicate. I think there's little people can get excited about other than "it's another one of that type of game." The abundance of mobile clone games may not have helped, either.

I doubt they would be putting out another one if there wasn't an audience for it.

Well me and my friends are all looking forward to the challenge at the end of the month. However, it's nothing revolutionary and hence no real "hype" threads.

Trials Rising looks really good. I'm definitely gonna play it.

It's just not the type of game that gets people excited, I guess. If you've played Trials before, you know what to expect.

All games are made by relatively small teams. All of them have been supported after launch for quite some time. We had spin-offs too. I didn't see sale numbers but it's always been a relatively niche title (even at its height it was one of the biggest XBLA games, but that obviously couldn't compete with the triple-As like Call Of Duty or FIFA) made on a smaller budget that's always found its player. I'm sure the game will do fine, but I can't disagree on the fact the launch is fairly quite. Do keep in mind we have in the span of two months games like Resident Evil 2, Kingdom Hearts 3, Ace Combat 7, Apex Legends, Anthem, The Division 2, Metro Exodus, a Far Cry spin-off, a new DIRT Rally, Crackdown 3... attention has been elsewhere.

How about naming it "Trials Rising - where's the hype", or something like that? Asking if the series is dead whilst noting there's a new one out in a month is a pretty dumb way to start your topic.
