i mean, go to a store and check different setups? It will depend on you and how you feel about the resolution when watching it! For some people it's definitely worth it, while for me it's not worth it at all

As for me, i would pay that price to go from 60 to 120/144 Fps

For JUST 4K? Fuck no. For 120Hz, VRR, low input lag, HDR10/HLG/Dolby Vision, etc on top of 4K? Sure.

Resolution only? Meh. But if we're talking about buying a 4K 120Hz HDR VRR OLED display? Most definitely.

I'm not sure on what's being upgraded exactly but the jump from a nice 1080p tv that was 5 years old to a 4K oled with all those other features is insane. I think it's totally worth it esp if you keep your tvs for a while

It really depends on how much that 1000 dollars matters to you - for me personally no way is it worth it.

If you think of it as a LOONG-term investment, that'll last you for the next 6-8 years at the very least, then why not.

You don't need to spend that much if you just want 4k.

But it is definitely worth it for 120hz + OLED on top of 4k.

How far away from TV/Monitor will you be sitting? Unless you sit relatively close, 1440p is the sweet spot for gaming, IMO

Depends on what you want. There are enough cheaper 4k TVs than that out there depending on size.

If you also get VRR, HDR, 120hz and all that? Seems worth it to me. Got a Q80T for 1000€ a month ago because of that.

Not just for 4K.
But if you couple 4K at least with good HDR10/DOLBY VISION, even at only 4K/60hz, absolutely yes.
If you also add on top VRR, ALLM, 120hz and HDMI 2.1 (e.g. if you're going to upgrade to an LG 2019-2020 OLED like C9/CX), hell yeah!

I'd say only if your 1080p is old or on its last legs or you will get some use out of it still (like someone else in the house gets it / you've been meaning to add a TV to X room). I'll be sticking with my 1080 TV for a while (and 1440p on my PC monitor).

Yes, especially when that 4K TV can play 120htz games with HDR. It's a sight to behold.

I can only say going from 1080p60SDR 32 inches to 4k60HDR 49 inches was worth every cent of the 500 euros it costed me. Maybe double the hz is worth double the euros too? I've never seen 120hz so I'm safe. At least 90 fps would be nice though, 60 is kinda low honestly, but nobody uses 90hz or even 100 as a standard output.

My brother gave me his mid range 2017 lcd/led tv and it was a gigantic leap all around, making it much closer to the LG OLED my parents have. Not at it, but honestly near it IMO. This was a jump from a cheap 1080p set from 2008 though.

I do notice a bigger difference between 1080 and 4K more than I thought I would, but you gotta make sure you're sitting close enough otherwise it really doesn't look much different.

If I were to buy a TV today it'd be the TCL 6 series because the price-quality balance is really good. Only 1440p@120hz+HDR but that's fine tbh.

Depends on how good your eyesight is, how close you sit to the screen, how much you value any additional detail you might see.

And lots of other variables.

Short answer: yes.

HDR is a real game changer, plus you get a resolution bump, maybe 120 FPS, VRR plus most newer TVs have a metric ton of apps built in.

Depends how much 1k is worth to you personally.

If it only took you a short while to save/budget for sure, if not no.

I spent more than I am comfortable with for my 4K OLED and i'll be honest... I do not regret it at all. If I ever need a new tv it will almost certainly be an OLED (if the technology isn't killed by then like plasma).

LCD to another (none FALD) LCD? No, probably not. LCD to OLED? Yes, absolutely. The increased resolution is nice but not the biggest improvement.

4K downsampled to 1080p still looks noticeably better than a straight 1080p source. Moving to oled with hdr makes a much bigger difference.

While I know I'd see a massive difference in gaming at 4K, we just upgraded to a 4K television and I honestly don't see much of an improvement over 1080P while playing 4K content. Maybe it's because the media pc is stuck at 30Hz until I get a 2.1 cable in, but I doubt it. I was seriously underwhelmed when we got the television in a few days ago and I immediately tried some 4K videos.

Hell I don't see much of a difference on YouTube between 480P, 720P and 1080P.
