I'd say if you can find a GTX 1080 Ti for under $600, get it. After owning both the RTX 2080 Ti and 2080 (upgraded to the Ti), the GTX 1080T Ti is still a great card. You're also paying double the price for just a 33% performance difference. Which is exactly why I kept my GTX 1080 Ti and put it in my Streaming PC. It handles 4K (loudly) and the price per performance can't be beaten.

Nvidia dropped the ball on RTX. Not everyone wants Ray Tracing.

I went from a 1070 to a used 1080ti and it's been absolutely worth it at 1440p if you have a high refresh rate monitor

Probably no.

I think it will be better if you wait for another gen. This Nvidia gen is so bad in value for money.

And I am hoping for a better next gen if AMD manages to release competitive GPUs and Nvidia hopefully will lower the prices if they move to 7nm.

I'm on a 2060 for now (roughly equivalent to a 1070 Ti), and plan to stay on it until the nextgen nVidia cards come out.

I would def wait at this point. Next gen consoles are going to drop next year and will def put some pressure on Nvidia to release something marginally bigger in terms of power than what we have now.

I'm on a 1070 and I play at 1440p and it really depends on the game whether or not I can get 60fps solid out of it. I'm personally waiting for a price drop on the 2080 myself before I bite on this line of cards. 2070 seems like a rip-off to me.

Going to a 2080 will be about 50% more performance. Probably not worth it unless the money is irrelevant for you

I'm gonna say no because the 1070 has lost too much of it's value now and the jump while decently large probably isn't a good one to do at this moment. I upgrade my GPU pretty much yearly because it costs the same or less as doing so every few years (due to depreciation) and I get the added benefit of having a cutting edge card.

Switched a 970 from 2015 to a 1070 ti earlier this year (before the 2060 was announced), I'm good for now and will only consider to upgrade it when Cyberpunk 2077 comes out and that is only if it runs below 60 FPS on the 1070 ti.

Yeah, I've been too lazy to do this. I should dump this GTX 1080 and never look back. Any recommendations on the lowest hassle way of selling a card? Ebay? Craigslist? What do people even do in 2019?

I used to have a lot of luck with Amazon. People payed good prices etc. Now their fees are much higher and they restrict who can sell. You basically can't sell used computer parts there at all anymore unless you're a vendor. I'd say here can be decent. Craiglist and facebook depending on which is more active can be decent. Make sure you price it slightly above what you're hoping to get as people rarely will pay full cost/expect to haggle. I feel like eBay can be alright, but it depends on what card you have. Model etc.

I doubt a 2080 will be able to play PS5 games at 4k/60fps.. let alone RT 60fps. So I'd wait until the 3070/80.

No. You still have "only" 8GB of VRAM and with many games already almost hitting that limit when running in 4k and with ultra texture settings this is nothing I'd want to consider buying. With that in mind, those cards are not future proof at all. RTX is still very early and while it looks great in some sequences, in many others you barely notice the difference (even less when NOT comparing screenshots and footage).

I'd would wait until the next generation arrives, offers you an even greater step in performance for (probably) the same price they're asking now.

In my opinion getting a high quality used 1080ti is your best bet. Everything about the 20 series cards is unappealing and off putting to me. Much more interested in next gen cards but Nvidia can eat shit if they keep up with this horrific pricing and terrible value proposition. I wish AMD would finally get their shit together.

Kuwait.
I did that op, I upgraded from 1070 to RTX2070, but I found a pretty darn good deal for it.

It was just yesterday and I only played overwatch, so I did not really "test" the card yet. will see today.

Although.. no matter I don't think I'll go to 2080 or 2080ti, The deal I got vs the price of 2080 is too much honestly i don't need it, I hope 2070 runs 1440p just fine

Depends how much money you have I guess.

My 1070 is definitely starting to struggle on high settings at 1440p but for me that's not worth an upgrade yet.

My 1080 is starting to have some troubles at 1440p60, but I think there's two points in time in which is worth to buy a card: when a new gen arrives, if you want to buya new top end, and also when a new gen arrives, if you buy the previous top-end, used.

The RTX series is what now? 6-7 months old? And it still is at MSRP, for the most part. I'm sure we'll see something somewhat soon, Nvidia are the kind of guys who like to laugh and brag when consoles launch or specs are announced launching something ridiculous, I'm sure we'll see something towards the end of the year even if it's only a refresh in 7nm.

I'd wait if I was you. The 20xx series seems to be a misstep for Nvidia and I could imagine they'll do some things to make them more viable.

I went from a 980ti to a 2080 but only because the 980ti died, otherwise I was happy to wait until next gen, and I Game with a 1440p 144hz monitor.

The performance increase is great but it is expensive, thankfully I got a really good deal on the card otherwise I'd have been pissed. It's not as much of a burn when you can sell your old card.

Edit: Make no mistake though, DLSS and raytracing are game changers. Especially the latter.

I upgraded from 1070 to 2080Ti. It gives me twice the performance and raytracing, which in Metro Exodus was brilliant. I am satisfied, even if it would be nice if it was cheaper.

Either go with 2070 or 2080 if you have money for such a relatively minor upgrade or wait for the next gen of GPUs. Don't upgrade to 1080Ti, that would be completely useless right now.

I'm sitting on my GTX 1070 until the 7nm RTX card next year. The 1070 is still crushing my 1080p/120Hz display so the 2000 series just isn't enticing enough.

It helps that I have no interest in 4K and there isn't a proliferation of RTX featured games as of today.

The 1080 Ti would be an even worse move to me. Non-RTX is a nonstarter.

So looking at prices on ebay, selling your 1070 (~$200) and getting a 1080ti(~$500) is about a $300 difference. Is it worth $300 bucks... i dont think so. An I game at 2k

Let alone a 2080

upon further searching, a 1070 to a 1080 might be worth it (~$150 difference)

What resolution are you playing at? I went from a 1070gtx to an rtx 2080 because I started gaming at 4K resolution. It was a worthwhile upgrade for me, in that sense.

But the 2080s are really expensive in Canada. They seem to be at aleast 250 bucks more than their predecessor.

I went from a 970 to a 1080. I run everything at Ultra (which, like "very high" is a dumb setting anyway so I put it back on "high"). Everything runs great and 60fps gaming on my TV is without any issues. Won't be upgrading myself for a long while.

I want ray tracing, but I want 4k more.
