Absolutely, I can't wait. I thought the first game was excellent , I hope this game has the same level of narrative ambitions/its own take on thenkind of thing they did there.

I'm lukewarm about it. It looks fine, but not groundbreaking. I liked the first but didn't love it. I hope this one is a huge step up but I'm not sure it is.

I had been completely ignoring it, as I never played the originals. Then a couple of days ago I found out that that it was unconnected (like FF or DQ), so I gave the demo a shot.

Only played maybe less than an hour, but (after confirming I could switch to Japanese VO... JFC I literally cannot play games with British English VO), I'm kind of charmed.

Reviews pending, I might grab a pair of them there Nintendo vouchers for it and save the other for either Famicom Detective Club or Mario Golf.

I say 'reviews pending' because I know at least one of the previous BD games apparently lost it halfway through.

I think vouchers can only be used by first party titles or games published by Nintendo. You may not be able to use it on BD2.

As a huge fan of BD1 I'm going to wait for impressions. I am interested however.

Didn't love the demo, and the visual style is going to look gross on my large TV.

I liked the first one (and would have loved it if it wasn't for chapters 6 to 8) and loved Bravely Second.
So it's a day 1 for me. Not even watched any trailer since the first trailer, going in (almost) completely blind.

Most certainly am. I have it pre-loaded. I'm not expecting a masterpiece but I am expecting a good JRPG...I don't think I have played one with a traditional turn based combat system since Dragon Quest 11. This should scratch that itch.

I wasn't initially but the demos won me over (they can often be a double edged sword- the Bravely Second demo had me not bother with the game as I felt like I'd had enough!). Now I'm keenly waiting for reviews.

I'm kinda burned out on the series after the second game was a samey and generic as it was. I'll play this eventually, just not a day one purchase for me

Wasn't super excited after the first demo, played the final one recently though (already had the game preordered) and now I can't wait for it come out.

Been a while since I played a big JRPG so I'm looking forward to sinking my teeth into it

As someone that immensely loved the first game, there's just something about BD2 that isn't drawing me in. I think the art-style and change in gameplay is likely playing a big part. Feels more like it's BD in name only. Will probably still grab it, but think I'll finish Second before I bother with 2.

I'm going to buy it, that's for sure, not in day one as I don't have a Switch yet and I'm not in a hurry to get one, but Bravely Default II will be in my collection waiting for the damn console.

I'm excited for it, but money is a bit tight now, not to mention, all the jrpgs that I have in my backlog; so I'm going to wait for a sale perhaps.

Not at all. The original team isn't even working on this one right? It's the Bravely Default mobile developers?

Kind of, I liked the first game (never finished it though, mostly because of the repetitive nature of the 2nd half of the game) but never played second.

This one looks nice and has good music, but combat system and story are what I want from a turn-based JRPG and I'm not sure the game will deliver on this front. I'm playing it this weekend though.

Kind of. I really liked Bravely Default on 3DS despite the repetition of the last part of the game. I have Bravely Second, but unfortunately never got the time to actually play it. I'm hoping to find the time with this one and hope it doesn't become a bit of a slog.

Not hyped, but eager to see what reviews have to say about the game.

I can't really estimate how the game is going to turn out. While the previous games are said to be decent to great, this one seems to have some really rough technical edges based on the demo, such as unresponsive controls and menus, uncanny artstyle, subpar performance (30fps with hickups), mediocre voice acting in English.

Hoping to pick it up Friday to play over the weekend. Last JRPG I fell in love with was Octopath, hoping this one really clicks with me too.

This is one of the few games where I simply can't get past the hideous character design/art style. Backgrounds and game systems look pretty nice. But no thanks due to those fugly chibis.

I couldn't wait so I decided to retry Bravely Second (liked it before, but I only got around 10-20 hours in before I got distracted with another game). And now I'm really enjoying Bravely Second so I'll probably play through that first.

I really hate the artstyle in this game. It just does nothing for me.
So, no I'm out.

Not as much as I would be, if the game was connected to the previous two entries--but yes I am still looking forward to it.

I haven't played the previous game despite having owned them for years, but I've listened to battle themes of the first game countless times and I'm really excited to hear more tracks by Revo.

The tracks in the demos were good but the first track here is my favorite so far:

Good thing the game has dual audio. Personally I'm not a fan of the English dub and I prefer to play games in their original language anyway.

I enjoyed 1 well enough but second turned me off when it didn't get revo and this one disappointed me with the lack of Yoshida. I'm just waiting for story impressions but not really hyped

Count me to the people being disengaged by the character designs. I dont know what it is exactly about them but they are actively putting me off. Ill wait for the reviews but i am certainly not hyped.

i'm mildly interested. i actually like the art style — the backgrounds and stuff anyway, it's very beautiful. the character designs are okay, i don't hate them at least.

based on the demo, i'm just not super big on the plot or the battle system really. it seems like a really polished, decent, kinda been-there-done-that RPG that i might get on a sale.

I really liked the first one (until THAT part) and I'm having a hard time with Bravely Second. The writing is awful, but the combat system is still great, though.

I have it pre-ordered because I like traditional RPGs but I hope there's enough new stuff in this one to keep me interested. Hopefully there are no mentions of Second in BD2.

I didn't really care much for the first game but I may give this one a shot. I'll wait for reviews first.

Not going to buy it on launch. Put perhaps along the line. There are other games I am just looking forward to more. Plus my backlog is huge still so I like to finish that first. My next game is going to be Monster Hunter Rise and that will be it for a while I think, ahah.

No. Staff behind BD1 and Bravely 2nd such as Kei Sone (Lead programmer) and Hajime Ojuma (Design Manager / Artist) among other long time staff basically reprised their roles for BD2.

To give some more context:

Silicon Studios(developer of BD and Second) sold their game development division to Creek & River, Creek & River developed Bravely Default: Fairy's Effect, the development of team of Fairy's Effect then became their own subsidiary called ClayTech Works and have developed Bravely Default 2.

It might not the exact same team of people but it's also not an entirely unrelated studio.

I'm way too old to have the patience for a combat system that slow and plodding. I consider older Final Fantasies to be damn near unplayable outside of speed jacked emulators for that reason alone. Octopath was a repetitive, mundane experience for me so I doubt this will be much different.

Based on the demo, I don't think it's for me. It came across as a very middle of the road JRPG, and I'm not up for that at the moment.
