I mean, Good Lord, people. I get that it's good to be prepared and all, but every single place I have ever shopped in is now sending me... well, spam basically about how they have/are preparing. For fuck's sake, I just got an e-mail about Coronavirus from LensCrafters of all places. Well, I can sleep soundly tonight knowing that there are currently no known cases among the employees of LensCrafters. It's just a bit over the top when I'm getting Coronavirus updates from *checks inbox* ...fucking Big Lots stores. Anybody else drowning in "Please come in, we swear we're just fine!" retailer e-mails?

You think it's bad for emails, I get messages from dating apps asking questions about how it might improve my chances somehow.

Yes, and google had presumptively marked them as spam.

I'm not sure how to process google's decision.

PetSmart and DSW is what did it for me. I understand they have to send these basically as "we're still open, don't be afraid" informational emails. But it seems like when that European privacy law passed. A lot of similar messages.

Yeah, the weirdest was a local nightclub sending me one and I was like "how did you get my email"

Yep. The companies that spam me about "deals" and "sales" on their merchandise are now spamming me about corona.

It might be somewhat excessive, but for example LensCrafters probably sent out notes because people who were scheduled for examinations we asking if those were still on.

And if the spam helps to convince the populace that this is a serious issue, it's not the worst thing in the world.

I've gotten one from just about every store or company I've used in the last several years, even some that I didn't know had my e-mail address.

"We want you to know we are doing everything possible to keep our stores free of covid19. please, we need your business"

I got a bunch, but it's way crazier in this forum. Etcetera should be renamed to Corona Forum, because every other thread is about it.
I'd love for the admins to create a Corona sub forum where everything goes there, at least for the gaming side because I go there to read about games, not about people going crazy and asking wether this or that game will get delayed all the time.

The very nice corporations just want you to know that they care about you and that you can continue to trust them, as always, to look out for you and the rest of the world in these very troubling times.

Yeah, I've gotten a few from my banks, as well as from a few restaurants and cinemas that are on lockdown per the governor's orders.

Yep, pretty much a "please fucking come back to our place of business. For the love of God please come back"

Got one for a few restaurants, a movie theatre.

A small hotel in Palm Springs that I stayed at a few years ago made sure to let me know that they've had no confirmed cases of the virus at their resort. The place has like 40 rooms tops, lol.

Best Buy has to assure all their customers that they're taking extra precautions with sanitation and that everyone should continue going to the store.

I got one from my bank, that said "We're wiping down the pens regularly."

Oh, you mean those pens that are chained to the desk like they're 24k gold and haven't had ink inside them since the 1980s? Those pens? Thank God.

Avis is "enhancing their already robust car cleaning techniques".

The tree trimming company I used once has informed me they will practice good social distancing.

I just got one from the site my URL is registered with. Not the hosting service. Not anything else. The registration site.

My URL is safe, y'all.
