Yeah I am hyped glad to see Scott Adkins get a shot. The IP-MAN franchise is so damn good. Can't help but think of the Guile fight stage music at the end of the trailer.

Can't view it but what timepoint in his career does this focus on? Somewhere between what 2 and 3 showed?

Read the title as vs. Scott Adsit, hype deflated.

I'm excited to see Adkins get to really show off for a change. He does the best with what he's given in his DTV films, but in interviews he's pretty blunt about how the budget just isn't there anymore to do the full prep required for really great fight scenes. Ip Man 4 is pretty much the exact opposite of that.

His fight scene in Special Forces way back in 2003 is still my favorite of his. Dude was born in the wrong era:

Didn't Donnie yen himself joked that if there's another ip man after 3, ip man will probably have to fight aliens? Lol

I love these films, although each is probably weaker than the last overall. I'll still watch this though because I really like Donnie Yen in the role and the fight choreography is always outstanding.

1, sure. 2 was very forgettable. Too much wirework. 3 went back to basics and it showed. School fight/Elevator fight/Tyson fight/Final fight were all god tier. 2 had nothing as memorable.
What the hell! The 2nd is the best one! How is that Sammo Hung fight on a table not memorable.

The 2nd is also the most critically acclaimed one.

Nice to see Adkins get to work with Yuen Woo-ping, that should really help him cut loose and show what he's capable of.

Is 2019 possibly the best year on film release ever?
Captain Marvel
Avengers End Game
Toy Story 4
Aladdin
Lion King
Pet Semetary
Glass (already came out)
Star wars Episode 9
John Wick 3

Among many other movies I look forward to seeing in theater.

Now IP Man 4

I'll watch it but after the last two I'm not expecting all that much. Hopefully some good fights. I think they should have upped the ante and had Bruce Lee show up for like 30 seconds and then have him abducted by aliens. Then Ip Man has to enter an intergalactic tournament to win back Bruce who'll he'll for sure finally train in the sequel Ip Man 5: The Finale Part Deux

Dude. Yuen Wo Ping is working on this? Yeah, I'm in. Loved 1 and 2 and thought 3 was entertaining, hoping this stacks up to the first 2.

Also thought it was amusing that the antagonist was the same guy who played Kunio Murai in the GTO live action drama

I LOATHE wirework in Kung Fu films, so that was a big negative for me. It has to be used sparingly or in situations where it doesn't look ridiculous. Yen and Hung had a better fight in Killzone, in comparison. As a whole, IP3 absolutely trounces 2 with its battles. The only one I didn't like in the third film was when IpMan went to save his kid. Everything else is grounded and fantastic.

And Triple Threat, which I hope lives to the hype of its cast

The only movies where wirework worked for me were Kung Fu Hustle, The Matrix, Ip Man 1, and Killzone movies

I like these films, but I do hate the fact they are poorly disguised propaganda that lies about the man in order to hide the fact he hated Communism. Fairly racist, too.

But one hell of a fun film, regardless. I'm serious, lol.

The sequels and spin off were sleep inducing outside of the fight scenes, but I'm excited to check this out because Scott Adkins is in it.

Wait i thought Ip-Man 4 would be a spin-off with Dave Bautista and the bad guy from Ip-Man 3?

I heard Triple Threat wasn't that good (68% on RT but only 8 reviews) which sucks considering that cast. I'm in for Donnie and Scott though. I'd be down if they put in Scott Adkins in Night Comes for Us 2 or Raid 3 if those ever get made.
