Wow! I didn't even know 3DRealms was still around. It feels both cool and kinda sad that they end up building their newest game with the build engine, seeing that they were trying to be cutting edge with Duke Nukem Forever back in the day. Ion Maiden looks really fun though. On a side note, it stinks that there was a fully fledged modding project that managed to remake the entire first episode of Duken Nukem 3D in UE3 that was greenlight by 3DRealms but then shut down by Gearbox so it wouldn't overshadow DNF...

Hope it's good like the original Duke Nukem 3D which to me it resembles the most. I don't like some visual elements but overall it seems cool.

The no exe thing is relatively common for me when games seem to launch before being quite ready, someone fumbled something, they'll fix it.

I wish someone made something like Powerslave/Exhumed (not the PC version) again, even (or better yet) if it was also in such an old engine.

The missing files/exe problem is fixed, it got updated as expected so it's properly launched now :)

The game seems pretty nice but on my rig it drops frames and can't maintain 60fps lol, they need to sort that out.

The no exe problem is resolved. Game seems good, but I'll have to really dive in later when things are a bit quieter around here.

Am glad the isometric game wasnt the end of the character. There was a lot of potential there that the top down pov just cant take advantage of.

Will likely grab the digital deluxe upgrade on gog to take a peak.

Plumbiscuit tells the truth, Logl lies :-P

If you buy the EA version, you get the Preview Campaign and the full game eventually when it releases. If you have Bombshell Deluxe, you get only the Preview Campaign.

I'll just repost this here from the other thread:

Played a bit of it, feels pretty good. Only real issue so far is that there are too many enemies with hitscan weapons, so it feels more like Blood (where you gotta constantly duck in and out of cover to live) as opposed to Duke/Doom/Heretic/Shadow Warrior etc which were all about running in balls out and dodging everything like a boss.

I didn't know I wanted this, but now I think I do. I miss the look of FPS games from that era.

This game appears to be made by people who actually get it. Love seeing the Build engine still in play.

Bombshell didn't set the world on fire, but this looks legit awesome. And it just makes sense, use an old ass engine to make a new old game. Can't get more classic than using the goddamn engine from the time lol.

IMO, this is a genuinely great game so far. I just hope the final version doesn't disappoint. It has that sense of creativity BUILD engine games were known for, with extremely polished combat and excellent art and music. Great stuff.

This is already one of my favourite old school style shooters already, the fluidity, spritework and badass female lead isn't something you see in games anymore (or even ever).

He ended up buying the game. Owners of the Bombshell DDE will get access the current version of the game but not will not receive any additional content updates.
I still don't understand if this preview campaign later will turn into the full game for people who buy the game, or it will be forever a stand-alone campaign not connected to the main one. Also if I buy Ion Maiden out of EA (I really don't want spend money on this while it's still in EA since I'm still waiting for a Bombshell patch), I will get this campaign too if it's its own thing?

The Early Access FAQ isn't entirely clear on whether the preview campaign is the foundation or a completely separate experience, but anybody who buys the game will get the full campaign. Publishers aren't allowed to deny Early Access players access to updates.

It's absolutely worth buying it, it's a rare kind of gem that comes along and is just 'fun' to play. The devs are open to honest feedback, too.

I'll get it then. I was thinking just the other day that if I was going to make an FPS it would be a retro like this one with some modern technology thrown in... like so many plataforms we have today. This game seems to be more or less that. And I have a soft spot for female lead games.

This is one of the few games in existence with a female lead in a retro style FPS, another being of course the Rise of the Triad game(s). It's a nice refresh from the manly man dudebro.

Finished the demo campaign and it was quite fun. Not as smoothly as I'd expect with some considerable fps drops, especially in some setpiece moments, but the gameplay is more or less what I expect. The highlights were the granades which were super fun to use and the last boss fight which features some incredible destruction and made me feel engaged in this to the death struggle with powerful enemy (a few more waves of simple enemies could have made it more intense though). Also, I missed a ton of secrets.

I feel like I got what I paid for. Or more precisely, a piece of what I paid for. I believe I'll write a more comprehensive review on Steam. Never did that, but this game being on early acess might make it more meaningful.
