That was fascinating, and I did not anticipate myself going into a video about this subject laughing so hard but then leaving it so mildly pissed off lol.
I do think it got a bit rambly and meandering around the middle and started focusing too much on nitpicking every little thing Cain said or did--kinda losing sight of the larger picture in the process, and boy was that DMCA/copyright explanation by LegalEagle super dull after about the first minute of it, but it came back together in the end with a strong message and a great send off.
Not her best video essay work, but phew what a wild ride of a subject and perhaps some of her best jokes, and it's really cool seeing how many people collaborated with her to make it come together. :D

As funny as the Omegaverse stuff is, I found it way more interesting how a case like this almost set precedent for something that would hurt small creators even more. (Though I will say, it would have been amusing if all future DMCA cases like this one had to reference the Omegaverse)

I only had a vague idea about what Omegaverse was until today. What little I heard from the basic premise was enough to avoid fanfiction that used it like the plague. This topic has reinforced that I made the correct decision

Literally every time I stumble across fanfics with this shit I am somehow still surprised at how they seem to continually one up each other with how gross and toxic they can be. It's not even just the body horror aspect of them, these stories condone rapey interactions between all the characters by design.

Whoa whoa whoa. Writing something as fantasy does not mean condoning it in real life. This had already been argued ad infinitum in fandom.
Just like how people may have certain kinks, doesn't mean they want something like that outside of a fantasy.

Maybe you misunderstood me, I didn't mean in my post that I think the authors condone those kinks in real life. I meant that in the omegaverse stories, the worlds are usually are set up so that the characters are in dubcon/noncon relationships, which I find gross. I'm not saying the authors or readers of these stories do that themselves or anything.
