Yes, but they are rather easy to spot. I know Trump has diehards. But the astroturfing should be called out.
It absolutely makes sense to people in my family. All they hear is Thing You Hate #1, Thing You Hate #2, Thing You Hate #3, all getting reinforced. That's what it's meant to do.

I'm not American, but isn't the morning pledge of allegiance at schools a thing? Or has popular culture once again lied to us? Because that seems like the opposite of his claim already if it's so.
I see it often too. Like the words that Trump uses, they are just tossed around with no meaningful discussion. People are scared of a few things ever happening. Socialism? Shit, trump said avoid that so voting trump. Defunding police? omg, got to vote trump.

My sense is that it was during the Cold War, but petered out since. I never had it at my schools, although I did at the occasional summer camp. So it seems to me that it just depends on how conservative or traditional your school district or private school is.
The pledge is a thing in the US still as far as I know. We did it when I was in school over a decade ago.
Through his ramblings, it seems like Trump's comment about schools somehow stems from most universities being mostly liberally slanted, and him being upset about it.

I'm watching this interview and it's amazing that Trump agreed to this interview with Wallace constantly challenging Trump's lies.
