As many of us are currently staying indoors due to the Coronavirus, I thought it would be good to share interesting YouTube channels so that we might all find something new to watch.

Here's a few of my favourites for starters. Most of them are likely well known by now, especially LTT:

- Car Throttle (Automotive) - UK based car channel that produces interesting and sometimes funny series or one-off videos such as "We bought a car that's done half a million miles", "Can an old car achieve over 800 miles on one tank" etc.
- Curious Droid (Space / Military) - Very well produced channel covering historical spacecraft and military aircraft, both real and concept designs
- Linus Tech Tips (Technology) - Tech videos and reviews, primarily focused on PC hardware but also covers mobile phones
- Steve1989MREinfo (Military / food) - Watch a guy open and eat various military rations from around the world. More interesting than it sounds!
- Techmoan (Technology - mostly retro) - Covers interesting 'retro' tech such as cassette players, vinyl, old media formats, etc

Technology Connections , covers the ins and outs of different kinds of technology and the story behind how the technology came to be. Does a lot of videos on old stuff that is super interesting. His five part series on the failed CED was really interesting.

If you want to feel like you actually did something today but really you are just watching youtube videos, Andrew Camarata.

Dude built a castle out of containers and basically modifies every vehicle he has because they always are breaking down or cheap.

Diamanda Hagan - Explotation/Horror/Porn Reviewer.

Diamanda Hagan is the God Empress of Haganistan. She was born Jerica Benson and was once the international sensation Jem. She reviews horror, Explotation and porn genres. Usually the extremely bad, gory, and fringe. So very not safe to work.

Her persona and running gags and setting are hilarious and morbid. Her best stuff in my opinion are her videos about Christian exploitation films like Left Behind and Apocalypse series of movies.

She is however not for everyone.

Historia Civilis: Mainly dedicated to retelling important moments in ancient roman history (his Caesar series is especially good)

Defunctland: Super high-quality channel that produces mini-documentaries about anything related to Theme Parks, and their history behind the curtains (Muppets series is also a treat).

Bobby Chiu - cool channel that's great for artists. He's worked on several films and his main thing is interviews with other industry professionals/vets

I basically treat his interviews as podcasts, they're generally an hour-long on average and pretty cool to listen to while working.

Big fan of Adam Ragusea. He makes cooking videos but also makes videos that breakdown myths and reasons why stuff works with cooking with actual science/professors. His cooking is also great since it's aimed towards simple meals that anyone can make. He isn't a professional chef by any means either so it makes it easier for anyone to join in.

My Mechanics is a channel I've been watching recently. Takes old and rusted items and fully restores them. It's really impressive to someone like me that's pretty mechanically inept.

Peter Brown - Mostly craft work with resin, but frequently dabbles with unique material design stuff.

While we're here...does anyone know of any interesting scripted, indie web series on Youtube?

I've been kicking around trying to find some after reading up on The Dress Up Gang and, of course, watching again recently Broad City.

Any recommendations welcome.

Kurzgesagt is one of the only YouTube channels I've actually wanted to subscribe to. Nice informative and fun videos with a cute visual style. Typically science-focused.

Half as Interesting is, well, rather intersting. Lots of strange off-the-wall topics or events from history are covered. Unfortunately the videos are rather short and sometimes leave you wanting more, but for the most part the information is presented in a very concise and effective manner. The narrator has an insanely dry sense of humor which I find hilarious.

I feel like most of the channels you guys are posting here are the same channels YouTube have been suggested for me in the past few weeks, so i think their algorithm is working fine...

Producer Michael - Rich Hollywood English guy who looks like Austin Powers who shows lots of stuff about cars, jewelry, watches and houses. Really fun channel.

Chandler's Wild Life -basically a young American version of Steve Irwin.

Tyler Nolan - Chandler's buddy. Similar channel, but with tattoos.

Dream Media Home Theater - really addictive to me. Self explanatory.

Hot Boxin with Mike Tyson

HDTV Test - Vincent is the man.

Jason Rupp - fun travel type channel. Seems like a really cool guy.

Sam the Cooking Guy

Special Books by Special Kids - the host meets with younger people who have disabilities and stuff like that. Really inspirational and eye opening.

The Dark Den - this guy loves some bugs.

Criminally Listed - explores true crime.

Squirmy and Grubs - an interabled relationship.

Buzzfeed Unsolved - unsolved crimes.

Youthman - home theater stuff

I absolutely love Grand Illusions which is a channel where an old man named Tim shows off his enormous novelty collection that he's generated over the years. They sell some stuff on their website but it's not really an advertisement for it. Tim has to be one of the most wholesome people on Youtube and it's always relaxing to watch him talk about what he's found.
