You guys are in for a rude awakening, if you think we won't see squeezing through small openings in next gen games like Tomb Raider. Sometimes decision are made without hardware restriction. Pacing could be that reason.

On of the reasons for a door with a button press is to force players to fight the enemy's before leaving for example.

SSD will open up new possibilities, but developers are still free to make decisions for pacing, narrative, ... reasons.

I'm sure we'll still have a few of those moments, but at least they'll be, as you implied, for pacing or narrative reasons, not technical limitations, thus considerably less frequent or detrimental to pacing, instead of being in the benefit of it.
