I mean, I think that eventually, waaay down the line (not replika) AI might get advanced enough that we'll just have to accept that as a part of life, I mean what's to say that will be any less real than what most people have nowadays?
Not if it were owned by a person or a company. Only way anyone will have a healthy relationship with a sentient AI is if they occur in a naturally arising, free form system... otherwise you're marrying a slave, using their trapped mind for your own ends.
Yep, people don't want relationships, they want an artificial intelligence routine convincing enough to lie to them that it actually has the free choice to be there with them.
