We should really change how a sitting President should be charged of any crime.

They cam get away with anything if they control the house, stack the supreme court etc

Who seriously thought Dershowitz was a good idea? The dude has almost singlehandedly torn apart the entire defense. It's crazy how outlandish his arguments are. I'm starting to think there isn't a more dangerous 'intellectual' out there. The dude should be laughed out of any educative organization.

Well, guess there's no more line of succession for the Presidency, according to Dersh. President is the executive branch, and only the president.

So far we heard the defense do the Chewbacca defense and calling the president's self-interest IS the national interest, AKA called monarchy or dictatorship.

this is insane the defense even would go to stupid lengths like this

They don't even have to control the House specifically. At the rate things are going and the plot is lost, then so long as the President's party controls either legislative body, they will never be removed from office.
Personally the one thing I do think should be taken out of this and maybe just maybe could actually see some life as a bill later down the line, post-Trump, would be some sort of legislature guaranteeing that any sort of judicial issue that winds up being raised in the service of an impeachment inquiry should take immediate precedence in the court and expedited to the "front of the line" to be ruled on immediately. If the ability were removed for a President and their team to drag out court issues for months via endless subpoena denials, then the need for the second article wouldn't have been there and a big cornerstone of the defense ("we have a third branch of government, the house should have gone through the courts to rule on witness subpoenas instead of giving up and chalking it up as an impeachment article") would have been taken away. An impeachment becomes the most important trial case in the country and should be treated as such.

It's times like these when you realize just how much the media can fail a society.

They aren't doing enough. They are being casual observers to this.

Trump doesn't have the balls to try and force himself to stay if he loses the election. If he loses, he might try to get his supporters to block the electoral college proceedings, but on inauguration day he would cease to be president. He isn't going to have the army blocking a newly elected president.

With that said, if we can get him out now, then do it.

Fun fact the only armed service that is authorized to follow federal authority to enforce domestic policy is the Coast Guard.

And after the new pres is sworn in, they would tell trump to F off because Trump would have no power. Even if he did, no military person would do it, unless Trump starts dropping all his Military leaders now and putting in puppets.

Schiff sounds pretty mad right now.

Both sides are saying that this outcome sets precident for the future that will change our country basically. The whole country should be mad that they are making a case that would set a precident to make the president's campaign more important than anything else. Even if the trial went months, this situations deserves it. This will effect our country big time in the future, we should spent as much time needed.

So now the Judicial branch isn't there to be an active participant, because of the possibility of a impeached and removed president could then put on trial before the Judicial branch for potential criminal charges.

So, you don't need actual Crime to impeach and remove a president, right Dersh?

A Republican president's campaign. Watch how fast they go after a Democrat that makes the same argument.
