Sounds like they're threatening senators with a crazy long trial if witnesses are called - and Schiff as a witness? Fucking why? Just to suss out the whistleblower? And then they want the whistleblower too? Were they fucking deaf the whole time Schiff explained why protections on the whistleblower exist? I mean, Trumps own staff if allowed to testify will corroborate the whistleblowers claims if they don't lie through their teeth...

Why can't/won't they reveal the whistleblower identity? Is it really for security reasons? Will we ever know who he is? Is it possible that he is not real?
I think there is a law in place to keep their identity hidden after being verified. Whistleblowers could face backlash, lose their job, or worse once outed.

It's mostly hot air. Threats are Trump's bread and butter.

Unreal right? Every single one is regurgitating Fox news talking points that have been debunked. Duck these idiots. They all sound like dumbass hillbillies
They live in an alternate media reality where they receive different debunkings. Turns out everything the democrats ever said or did was corrupt & wrong & all about creating a degenerate society where the family is destroyed and everyone's gay. Except for the already gay people, who will ascend to ultragay. Also, George Soros faked the moon landing to erode people's faith in God.

It's all in Das Kapital.

Trump is the only one noble and courageous enough to stand up against this ancient evil, and put Hillary in an ankle bracelet under secret arrest for terroristic pedo-treason.

Why does the identity of the whistleblower matter at all? Hell, why does the motivation of the whistleblower matter at all? Let's say that he's some Soros-funded ultra liberal who's also a gay Muslim - why does that matter at all? If the thing they reported is true and an abuse of power then who cares if the whistleblower didn't like Trump before reporting it?

The GOP need someone to blame / tarnish / discredit to try to make this all go away, and the 'one that started it all' is the prime choice for that.

Trump's Team: ask for witnesses and we will punish you for it.

Schiff: we have a responsibility to seek the truth and protect the nation.

HMMMMMM. Which side is the good guy here?

Lmao! Schiff is great - he caught on to the Defenses threat too. Goddamn he's on point. Fucking hell yeah - let Jay Sekulow and Trump be witnesses too. 😆
And I like him deferring to Justice Roberts to determine what's relevant and what isn't.

I think there is a law in place to keep their identity hidden after being verified. Whistleblowers could face backlash, lose their job, or worse once outed.

There are multiple laws in place to protect whistleblowers. Basically, someone from the Intelligence Community submits a form through some specific system, and eventually gets contacted by the Inspector General. The IG is required to investigate it, and determine whether or not the claim has merit. In this case, the IG was concerned and referred it to the House Intel Committee (3 weeks after he was supposed to by the way). The law dictates that the ICIG has to protect the identity of the whistleblower, for their safety and to prevent retribution.

Why does the identity of the whistleblower matter at all? Hell, why does the motivation of the whistleblower matter at all? Let's say that he's some Soros-funded ultra liberal who's also a gay Muslim - why does that matter at all? It doesn't. The whistleblower complaint just compels the IG and--if proven merited--House Joint Intel Committee to investigate potential wrongdoing. Since then we've had about a dozen witnesses that have corroborated the whistleblowers complaint. The identity of the whistleblower is completely irrelevant at this point. They just want to find something in the whistleblowers history that they can use to try to discredit them.

Republicans are such unrepentant assholes. I know 100% they are not religious like they claim to be, because if Hell is real these fucks would be heading there for sure. So, so evil.

Man, the Democrats need to get better at playacting. All they had to do was act terrified about the prospect of Hunter Biden testifying as opposed to going "LOL... please proceed!" and we'd probably be getting witnesses right now.

McConnell may have pulled a crafty move when he claimed he didn't have enough votes this morning. It definitely kicked the GOP in the ass.

Why not ask that to both? I don't get this. Make the defense defend the indefensible.

Edit: oh it was both

He absolutely avoided addressing the question by being a pedantic little shit. The first article covers the same situation. It just doesn't use the language he chooses to focus on.

Why don't Dems just say ok Hunter Biden is in? They still won't support Bolton testifying.
I mean, things playing out that way would be the worst possible scenario for witnesses.
It's also extremely unlikely since Bolton's manuscript has pretty much cemented him as the #1 priority witness that made the debate of witnesses happen at all. There's no possible way the GOP could try and spin such a play.

It's mostly irrelevant since I still firmly believe we aren't getting and never were going to get witnesses anyway, Bolton would be the one non-negotiable one to call and they all know it.

Is this fool saying that if the Senate votes for witnesses in a Senate trial the president can still take this court while in said Senate trial?

The main tactics of manipulation: fear, anger, and confusion induced boredom hopefully resulting in inaction. The third one is a doozy and oft ignored.
