No issue at all. No sexism at all since it's enforced on everyone. People jump on any reason to be offended and call it sexist when they arent happy something....

I don't really see any issue here. This is pretty standard stuff when it comes to clothing guidelines. You'd see the same at any school here.

I'm honestly kinda surprised that isn't a thing yet. Obviously there are a lot of twitch viewers that want to see boobs while watching video games; seems like a missed opportunity.

Fuck let's create it. Time to cash in.

Thank god they're protecting the children from the disgusting human body. Cleavage? Shirtless males? Oh my stars.

Oh hey, my fav Mortal Kombat stream is on again. Time to watch characters get torn into bloody shreds in sweet HD. The best part is all the screaming.

Actually I believe if you play an M rated game your stream is changed to 18+. So in this case if you were to watch MK you would get the 18+ stream warning at least that is what it used to do on there when I streamed a few months ago could changed.

Twitch has a lot of channels that basically use the service as a softcore camgirl site and do what they can to push the boundaries. I'm not shaming those people and I don't personally care one way or another, but I'm guessing Ms doesn't really have that vision for their site. If you want to watch that type of channel twitch is a better bet it seems.

To be hinest, I can't really see any issues there. Pretty much the same dress code used on TV. Their platform, their rules. If people don't like them they can always go back to Twitch.

This dumb fucking country focuses on censoring breasts more than stemming racism and gun culture. (Not just Mixer, TV and other American media as well).

Ass and titties are like at the bottom of the list of things that are wrong with game streaming/Twitch/YouTube culture. It's literally an alt-right starter kit for children right now. Call me crazy, but that seems like a larger concern.

Man, I was hoping I'd be able to stream to young teens while wearing only a bathrobe that's slightly ajar!

I have no problem with this whatsoever. If that's how you want to earn your views, there's always MFC. I've never been a fan of people taking advantage of impressionable and lonely people to make money.

I don't really any issues with those guidelines, it seems that they also indicate the torso cannot be exposed, which is good.
With that said, someone should start some kind of PornHub, but for streamers, basically naked people or people wearing suggestive clothing while playing games, that seems like a million dollar idea.

i'm confused.

some people are pointing out that the rules target typical womens clothing more than typical mens clothing... and other people are saying 'people complain about too many rules' while completely ignoring the content of the rules.

why?

This exists already. It's called plexstorm. (I only know about it bc Etika was talking about streaming there at one point so he didn't have to keep hiding his twitter)

These kinds of rules almost always hinder women far, FAR more than men. Like, what can a guy do to break these rules? Not wear a shirt. That's pretty much it.

Hell, women with larger breasts may struggle to find clothing that is comfortable enough to stream in that doesn't show some sort of cleavage.

Like, yay they spelled it all out there for all to see, but these are not great guidelines.
100% agree with this. Lots of people just saying "well it doesn't single women out" as though there's no physical or societal (by the way lots of clothes are designed) differences in how these rules apply

The whole thing with the specificity is that they supposedly want these things to be clear cut to avoid Twitch's weird edge cases where you're TECHNICALLY not breaking the rules but no one in their right mind would say you're following them either.

Yup. Twitch has a horrible problem with not having specific rules. If you're going to have rules, the very least you need to do is be very specific.

That's hard when a lot of this stuff doesn't have a clear line. If nudity isn't fine, but clothing is, where do you draw the line down the middle. No matter where it is drawn, it's going to be arbitrary, and someone is going to have a problem with it. But in order to be enforceable, you have to pick that arbitrary line.

It seems Microsoft is trying to be even between the sexes here, so I'm not sure what else they can really do.

It's very specific, but the alternative is relaxed rules which is always going to have issues - and does on Twitch.

Being a friend with a female streamer who does have larger breasts it is tough for her but its also something others ruined for her. These rules got put in place because Lots of Camgirls from MFC etc. learned they could make even more money on platforms like Twitch. So they came over and tried to treat Twitch etc. exactly like they did on MFC etc. So then twitch etc. were forced to enhance the rules and put lots of prohibitions in. Obviously its still not fairly enforced. Women who make a lot of money for Twitch get to get around the TOS a lot more then those who are small time.

I think Mixer is coming in strong from the get go hoping to prevent the decline in streaming quality and overall community that Twitch has experienced through admittedly their own shitty handling of things.

mixer seems to simply want to avoid the awful culture that twitch has festered. it might seem strict, but frankly its probably worth it.

How is this any different than any other place of employment having a dress code?

C'mon. This is ridiculous. Could anyone that works for or represents Microsoft roll into work in a crop top?

Wait body painting is allowed? Wtf? lol

Yeah. You basically have nudity streams on twitch lately.

And.. again, I don't have any negative judgements for someone who wants to have a sex positive stream or market their stream towards a certain group of lonely dudes. It seems like good business. But i also don't really care if MS wants to project a different image for their site. If you don't specify rules and be specific, you end up with Twitch.

Eh i personally don't care as long as the stream is at least labeled 18+, but I was mostly just surprised that they allowed it. It just nudity. I figured Twitch would have drawn the line there lol

I'm all for this but yeah, can't blame MS for wanting to go with a more "family friendly" approach.

I don't have an issue with it. I don't watch those streams, but I don't see how they hurt anyone either. I'm just saying I can sort of see the logic behind having more specific rules about this kind of thing if you have your own business and want to project a certain image for it. Tone and image are important, especially if you are trying to set up an alternative to twitch. Businesses and schools and stuff in general have dress codes and expectations about conduct that they set for themselves. This is no different.

I don't see a problem with this. Just don't set your stream to family friendly. this is such a non story.

I see nothing wrong here to be honest.. If anyone finds it annoying they can just skip the platform. Since mixer is closely associated with Microsoft's gaming efforts I bet they would have similar rules/guidelines as they do on their other gaming/online platforms.

From the looks of the tweets (I really don't want to link it) it seems to be just more about them being able to harass a woman. She posts the Mixer rules, they smash her tweet replies with "Well maybe don't dress like a ***" or "Get some talent and stop trying to make money off blah blah". I don't think these guys THINK all that much, they just see an opening to target a woman and its free fire.
Thanks. Fucking hell
