My Alienware Alpha r2 is pretty feeble so I often choose 720p for games.

I'm actually surprised there are more 1440p144 users than 1080p144 considering 1080p144 has been super cheap a few years now and is a great entry point into high refresh gaming without breaking the budget and even older hardware such as Radeon 200 series or Nvidia 900 series are still able to run those monitors at high fps with decent settings (because not everyone here will be sporting the latest hardware right).

1440p/4K 60fps. Depends on how well optimized the game is. I shoot for 4K/60fps most of the time at the best settings but if I start getting frame drops at 4K I switch to 1440p or a slightly lower res.

I use a Sony 900E so 4k 60~ish most everything. If available, I pull down the render percentage to 90 or 80% before lowering to 1440p.

The drop in sharpness going from 4K to 1440 is significant.
