With all the talk about next-gen, I've been wondering just how prevalent 1440p/4K/Ultrawide has actually become in the enthusiast PC space. Cards like the RTX 2060/RX 5700 are well-suited for 1440p60, so I'm curious to see if folks have started to adopt higher resolutions, or if folks are sticking to 1080p for the time being.

If you're running 1440p+, was that a recent upgrade for you? Likewise, if you're still on 1080p - are you planning to upgrade to 1440p/4K in the near future?

Been on 1440p 120+ since 2017. I'll probably wait a while before making the jump to 4K. Once pretty much every game is running at ~144 maxed out.

I have a 4K TV. If I can get 1440p 60 fps-ish without needing to go too ridiculously low on settings Ill do it. If not, I'll go 1080p 60fps

1440p, 144 Hz monitor here. Though to be perfectly honest, I would still be content with a 1080p screen.

1080p60. I'm likely to stay at this resolution for a while, especially if I start chasing framerates beyond 60.

I have a 4k TV but I play at 1080p/60 FPS

Its because my rig isnt powerful enough but I plan to hopefully resolve that by next year ;)

Plan is to go up to 1440 with 60 FPS at the least if not 4k.

I'm overdue for an upgrade especially since it will be 10 years since I have gotten my current rig come next year.

1080p and the highest framerate possible. I'd rather stay on 1080p at higher framerates than higher resolutions at lower framerates.

I guess once my monitor is the bottleneck and I can go to 1440 or 4k and still hit 144hz at high+ settings in any game I'll upgrade.

I'd like to play 1440p at 120 but realistically I'm a graphics whore and settle for 1440p at 60. Maybe with the 30 series Nvidia it will be possible.

1440p, 165hz. It's a lot easier to hit that framerate in games like Gears 5 and Destiny 2 than it is Hitman 2.

1080P 144hz here. Although I'm going to be on the look out for 1440P 144Hz monitors around Black Friday.

1440p 165Hz, best place to be if you want both somewhat high resolution but also high framerates. Will be great when I can take the step up to 4K 120Hz, but that's still quite far away if I want to maintain 120+FPS.

1080p 144 Hz desktop pc. I'll buy a gaming laptop soon and that'll be 1080p 144 Hz too, but with the smaller screen it will seem like a higher res

I used to have a 1440p 60 Hz screen but 144 Hz > higher res

I've got a 1080p 144hz monitor with hardware G-Sync for PC gaming. I much prefer the frames at a lower resolution to higher resolution at stuttered fps. However, I do have a 60fps 4K monitor with Freesync for console gaming.

I'll be upgrading to a 1440p monitor with at least 144+hz refresh rate after I pick up my next video card. Hopefully next year depending on what Nvidia puts out.

4k60 wherever I can. The monitor is a 120hz monitor so I can play some games higher (Edit: Limited by Displayport 1.4, not HDMI).

1080p60. Been looking at 1440p144 but everything is a bit to expensive for me. A bit worried about being able to drive that resolution too on my RTX2060.

I have a modest rig from mid-2016, so 1080p60fps is my priority. Wouldn't trade resolution for frame rate to save my life.

I will have to play it carefully with next-gen coming up. Will try ride out the next year with what I got and do a full upgrade end of next year.

Depends on the game and if I'm playing at my desk or in the living room. Desk monitor is 3440x1440@100Hz, living room is 4K@60. GPU is 2080ti

I always used an 3440x1440 ultra wide but not a high refresh rate one. If I ever get back into pc gaming it'll be that at 144hz.

I've had a 1080P 144Hz display for 5+ years now.

I'm waiting for some more 1440p 240Hz displays to released before I upgrade. (there's only a couple on the market right now iirc)

I have a 1080p 144hz monitor and I don't feel the need to upgrade yet because the experience I'm having right now is still brilliant. My PC is well balanced for 1080p 100+ fps with an i7 4770 and GTX 1070. Honestly I've used higher resolution monitors and going from 1080p60 to 1080p144 is a much bigger upgrade than to 1440p60 IMO. If I ever have the money to completely overhaul my system I won't go for stopgap resolutions like 1440p I'll go straight for 4k 120+hz with full 10bit HDR with 1000nit peak brightness and all the other good stuff like a ryzen 12 core and RTX 3000 series whenever that comes out.

Upgraded to 1440p a couple three years back. It's a 144Hz monitor (w/G-Sync), but most modern games only get up to around 70-80.

I was mainly using a 3440x1440 @ 100 Hz display with my GTX 1070 Ti; the card barely handles that resolution at 100 Hz unless the game is old but it's nice. I now switch between that and a 1920x1080 @ 240 Hz monitor. The card still isn't enough for that but it's a big difference in smoothness to me coming from a VA panel. The colors aren't as nice but it's a bigger upgrade for me than something like Freesync; the newer panels that can do both will be interesting.

As high as I can while keeping my target framerate. Which can mean both higher than 4K in older games or Control at 720p to keep 60.

1440p/165hz/G-sync.

And I don't ever use the highest possible settings, because a stable 165 fps means much more to me than ultra quality shadows, motion blur and 4xMSAA. :)

1440p144hz

Hoping a big feature of the new consoles is dynamic framerates, would love to see more support for 144hz gaming.

1440p and 60+ Gsync

My i5 3570k is about to retire after Red Dead Redemption II and the PS5 and Nextbox come out. I'll upgrade to 4k and 144hz at that point as well.

While I game on a 1920 x 1080 22" monitor. I tend to use a 1152 x 864 resolution for my games. It works better for my eyesight than a full screen resolution would (struggling to read the tiny text). I find that the resolution compromise still gives a good picture (kind of replicates gaming on a 15" monitor which is a-ok with me) and the lower resolution enables a bit of a boost to the FPS if I keep things on high graphic settings (780ti user).

1440p 144hz. I'm fine with that, although I would consider an upgrade to the same thing but with proper HDR if it became more reasonably priced.
