Just like with how Demon's Souls started it all for Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro. Xenogears is where it started it all for Xenosaga, and Xenoblade.
(The beginning and the end. The alpha and the omega.)
As my thread title states, if you love Xenogears, then I think it's imperative that you play or watch Xenosaga III. Over the years we've seen some pretty cool nods to Xenogears, like the Final Fantasy Brave Exvius collab:
...and the Xenogears collab for Figure Heads:
While these are some really cool bits of fan service to Xenogears; at the end of the day, Xenosaga III still has the coolest nods to Xenogears a fan could want.
Unfortunately, getting your hands on a copy of Xenosaga III is becoming more difficult as time goes on so watching it may be the next best thing.
Not to mention, plans to remaster Xenosaga failed, which makes the situation even more dire:
[Anyway, at this point, I'm going to list the fan service to Xenogears that appears in Xenosaga III off the top of my head so I don't recommend continuing past this point if you want to avoid spoilers. If you don't care about spoilers, then by all means continue past this line.]

SPOILERS AHEAD
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm going off the top of my head, so if I miss or forget to mention anything, please let me know and I'll try to make corrections. There might also be nods to Xenogears that I'm not aware of either in Xenosaga III or outside of it, so please tell me if you know of any! With that said let's begin!
This one is pretty easy! Jin is quite frankly Citan!
At one point in your journey through Xenosaga III, you'll eventually make your way to a place called Dabrye Mine. In this mine, you'll encounter someone named Mai Magus, who has an uncanny resemblance to Maria.
Not only that, but she also uses a modified version of Maria's Gear, Seibzehn. Really cool! I might be getting confused here, but I think the next nod to Xenogears appears in Labryinthos. Inside, you encounter Omega Universitas, which is an obvious reference to Weltall.
This is a new design of Weltall, possibly based around Weltall 2 from Xenogears. This was fantastic fan service.
The question still remains, who is piloting it?...I don't think I ever found out. On to the next fan service!
The next one appears in Abel's Ark if I remember right. As you progress through this confusing stage, you'll find probably one of the coolest nods to Xenogears, but only if you've beaten it as it references the final area of the game.
In the final area of Xenogears, you'll ultimately encounter Deus, who is absorbing power from four surrounding orbs. Whether you decide to crush the orbs first or fight Deus directly, is up to you.
You'll find those same orbs, and core in Abel's Ark. The fan service doesn't end here! Guess who is inside...
Omega Metempsychosis! A nod to Deus!
It also has my favorite boss battle theme, Godsibb! Give it a listen!
I almost forgot about Nephilim and Abel. You might recall "The song of Nephilim". These are two characters that will eventually be revealed to you as you progress through the game. They have a strong resemblance to Fei and Elly.
Now for this next reference. In Xenosaga III, there is a quest line involving a certain scientist. This scientist built a robot which you'll be fighting near the end game. That robot is named Erde Kaiser and it's quite possible that Erde Kaiser is a nod to the G-Elements mech.
At this point, I thought that this was all the Xenogears references in Xenosaga III back when I played it (14 years ago?), but it was not! Later in the game, near end game if you will, there is a super secret optional boss encounter! You'll get a rematch with Omega Universitas but the gloves are off this time around. I believe this is one of the games hardest boss fights too.
Omega Universitas transforms into Omega ID, another obvious nod to Xenogears.
An absolute monster! Well I hope you enjoyed going down memory lane with me. This is all I can remember at this point in time.
Trying to remember events from a game I played 14 years ago is hard! Again, if there is any nods to Xenogears I might have missed, please don't be afraid to share! I'd love to know!

Katsuhiro Harada Says a Xenosaga HD Collection 'Failed in a Profitable Market Analysis'
The odds of getting a Xenosaga HD Collection seem faint, as Katsuhiro Harada took to Twitter to explain why it would be "difficult" to see.

I explore the world of Xenogears in VR! (VRChat - Image Heavy)
In all of its PS1 glory. Never thought I'd see the day where I can enter the world of a legendary classic! A classic that I have played through maybe 3 or 4 times over the years. The world is still a WIP, the creator has quite a lot of work to do but for what's there, it's really cool! I...
