I would not miss roguelikes. I cannot get into them at all. Procedurally generated levels, permadeath, etc. Ugh. There have been some pretty neat looking games that I was choked to find out are roguelikes so all interest evaporated.

How do you guys feel? Which genre do you not enjoy, and why?

Work
Gacha games inspired lootboxes.

Gacha games. They ruined an entire generation and don't plan on stopping.

shooters, first and third person. There are other ways to create conflict and resolve it than just "realistic person in realistic world uses realistic kinda guns to shoot people ".

I mean I guess if I had to I'd banish something like RTS because it would make absolutely no difference to me.

To the first two posts: Come on guys. It's a more fun way of saying, "what genre is your least favorite?". Some people are so sensitive lol.

They never did anything to hurt me so why would I? Lol. Gacha games can be pretty nefarious I guess.

JRPGs are my least favorite genre, but I wouldn't banish them because other people enjoy them (plus they can have great soundtracks)

Shooters. Not out of a reason of disliking them (I love a lot of them in fact!) but I'd be curious to see what would happen to games without them.

I would remove Action Adventures just so we finally know what is and isn't an action adeventure

Edit: Oh, or jRPGs to see if Dark Souls would still be around.

Skinnerbox Gacha bullshit. It has actively influenced the industry for the worse.

After that, idk. Anything GaaS I suppose.

If you were asking me what my least favorite genre is, it's probably tower defense. It's one of the few genres I haven't found something I enjoy in yet.

WRPGs like Baldur's Gate, Divinity: Original Sin and Pillars of Eternity. Slow paced, boring, obtuse, too difficult - I'd rather play just about anything else.

Cinematic single player games with open worlds and light RPG elements.

People would reinvent them but right now they're so stale. They try to be like Hollywood and somehow manage to have both bigger pretenses and less depth. I'd like to see those budgets go to AAA immersive sims or deeper RPGs, aka never going to happen.

Ps. I'd keep Uncharted of course, that game actually pulls it off.

Battle Royale. Not because I hate the genre in general, but because it would erase Fortnite's success, and thus prevent Epic/Sweeny's shenanigans.

None but if I had to pick battle royale because I'm very curious what a world without Fortnite would look like. Would Minecraft still be the #1 top game or would something else have come to grab kid's attention?

Real answer is none, but playing into OP premise, I would choose Gatcha, just because how damaging they can be to people with gambling addictions. Devs behind those games tend to not give a flying fuck about their players.

I'm happy to let people enjoy what they enjoy, but I wouldn't miss roguelikes if they just vanished. It feels like every other indie game is a roguelike right now and I'm kinda sick of it, but there's a very good reason for that - people like 'em!

nah fuck that, this is a more interesting question if you take it literally

what games not existing would make the world a better place? first person shooters are debatable because of the effect they have on young people (eg the COD propoganda and shit)

maybe porn games, if they count? again, because of young people

edit: see like this is a great answer
