Why the hell are people constantly doing this in every single TROS thread? From easily discernible and incredibly specific spoilers posing as speculation, (like the people who "speculated" that in episode 3 of GOT's final season the red witch would show up and cast a spell despite literally ZERO foreshadowing of that event happening), to people reacting to every new tidbit, poster, interview, etc. with

"wELl tHis juSt coNfIRMS thE SPOilERs"

Like, it's incredibly immature borderline shitposting imho and a reminder, there's literally a thread for spoiler discussion. And I honestly can't fathom a reason to use every new thread as an announcement that you read spoilers for a movie instead of just discussing it in that thread.

They don't trust you Crossing Eden .They see your future. They know your power will be too strong to control.

You must break through the fog of lies the spoilers have created around you. Let me help you to know the subtleties of the speculation.

This is literally not theorizing, it's just "I read the plot of the movie online pre-release and now every time the movie comes up I must let that be known."
how do you know that? you think these movies are extreme curveballs? i wouldn't be surprised if in a lot of theorizing talk people figured out what GRRM was gonna do in the books. i do believe some folks know spoilers and like to sprinkle it in under the guise of theorizing, but I chalk that up to folks who NEED to speak out and be heard, and spoilers are the only way they get that kind of attention. Some folks just can't keep a secret.

I don't understand why it's an issue? They are not spoiling anything. They are not giving any details. Just making a comment that the spoilers seem to be legit. That in no way hints or says anything about the film. And it's no different than every other over done comment you see in every Star Wars thread.

Might as well just cut off Star Wars discussion all together if this one bothers you, and every other annoying comment about the franchise that people feel the need to post every time.

how do you know that?
Because people ain't slick lmao. There's an incredibly different tone between genuine speculation and people posting spoilers for the sake of being an attention seeking goober. And i'm pretty sure I've seen multiple people who've gone on record saying they read it just straight up post spoilers in passing comments.

i wouldn't be surprised if in a lot of theorizing talk people figured out what GRRM was gonna do in the books.
IIRC some of the people who were doing that for GoT were warned and/or banned because it was very easy to figure out who was doing it.

I almost got spoiled in another corner of then internet. Somebody deliberately going around listing out spoilers.
Lucky for me, I averted my eyes after the first listed spoiler, which was basically barely a spoiler at all.

What's even more frustrating is that those same people are gonna call a movie that they literally know the plot of beforehand, when the film has some of the vaguest trailers in blockbuster cinema, "predictable." šŸ™„

I noticed this too. Very bizarre to me to see people saying references to them reading the spoilers.

I personally don't have a problem with grown up Baby Yoda's role in TRoS, or Super-Giant-Mecha Maul 9001 being the final boss.

Problem is that certain parts of the fandom "you know who" have done nothing but stir up controversy regarding Rise Of Skywalker and are posting bullshit rumors such as test screenings being a disaster which according to Jason Ward at makingstarwars.net has not even happened yet.

Those bullshit artists annoy me even more

It's fine. Spoilers don't matter.
Going into a movie blind absolutely affects your reaction to it. So yes spoilers absolutely do matter. Hell its the entire reason why people hate trailed that's are two minute Supercuts of the films. One of the most explicitly talked about scenes in spiderman homecoming for example, is one they never showed in trailers compare for to the boat scene, one of the least laughed at scenes in zootopia is the sloth scene they released months before release, etc.

I hope those people take a bigger L than the captain marvel situation tbh.

It sucks.

People will tell you not to worry about spoilers or some other rational other than the truth, people think they are being cute.

The only way is to go on thread blackout till you see the movie.

So I just put every star wars thread on ignore

Yeah, one of the worst things about spoilers is people thinking they know exactly what to hint at, and not spoil the story. Which differs from the part someone else thinks they can hint at, and not spoil the story.

It's like giving you the spoilers in mosiac.

Just let the storytellers tell the story as they see fit. If you can only think to hint at spoilers you don't have anything worth saying.

I have read all the leaks. I kept up almost from square one. And I have no desire to spoil the film for anyone. It isn't cool. So I stay out of these threads almost entirely to avoid doing so. I hate it when I see people doing what you described, Crossing Eden, almost as much as I hate seeing people who very clearly read spoilers for stuff (TROS absolutely included) who proceed to laboriously detail their "predictions" thereafter. Like, who the hell are you kidding here? Do you not realize other people have read them too...?

For the record, I'm not hinting at that having happened here or anything. Again, I've mostly stayed out of threads for the movie. But it probably has, and likely more than once ā€” I've seen it happen elsewhere.

I generally agree but really, your example in the op is pretty poor. I don't remember whether Melisandre arriving at the battle was leaked previously and her coming back wasn't much of a leap. Especially since she said few years back to Arya that they will meet again.

I know that, at some point in the final season I gave up and just gobbled them up too, but I just don't remember if that tidbit was known in advance. Which really ultimately doesn't matter that much since I disagree it was impossible to predict and tbh quite on the contrary.

It's super obnoxious.

And people aren't as clever or slick as they think they are. I remember I was talking to a friend of mine about a movie I wanted to see, and he was like, "Look, I don't want to spoil it for you, but just remember the movie Zatoichi, that's all I'm gonna tell you." And I was like, "Dude, come on, man."

Some people just can't help themselves. They just have to let others know that they know something they don't. Like they feel so much cooler/better/smarter than the other people that don't have an interest in absorbing every little detail of a popular movie. I'm not even overly sensitive to spoilers most of the time, and some things I like to go in blind about, and some things I don't mind reading more into and digging into spoilers. But that's at least my choice to make. This type of thing isn't even limited to Star Wars, either. I see all of the time on this forum and others. It really shouldn't be that hard to be considerate of others and that maybe they aren't as clueless as your oh so "vague" spoiler comments imply.

In short, people are bad at discussing spoilers. There's usually spoiler threads where you can discuss that shit to your hearts content. But then, people in spoiler threads also know the spoilers, so how can you feel like a badass knowing something others don't? (insert eyeroll here)

Agree OP. People love to lord it over others and dangle tidbits they don't want to know about. It should be a bannable offence to be honest. I've done well to avoid them so far and I'm at the point I just won't be looking at this forum anymore in the days before the film releases. Just in case. Anyone posting even remotely spoilery bait threads need banned in the weeks the film is out.

Saying "the spoilers are true" is harmless if you don't already know the spoilers. And if you do already know them, then, well, you've already been spoiled? It might be annoying, sure, but as was pointed out in the TV spot thread when this discussion began there is no impact to someone who is unaware what the spoilers are.

I went into End Game blind. No trailers, no anything. If someone came up to me and said "the spoilers were true" it literally would have had zero impact on my enjoyment of the film. Even if I had seen a trailer, there is zero context as to what the spoilers would have been.

I get the annoyance, but let's not be overly sensitive. Seeing people call for bans is a bit much. Actually spoiling something would be bannable.
