I've played all Halo games multiple times, still have absolutely no idea what's going on.
I think a guy in a green armor and a blue lady is involved but that's about it.
Pretty much thisAll you missed was a terrible story about Cortana, so no, you're probably good.
Using a Chuck Austen as a 10, how bad was it?All you missed was a terrible story about Cortana, so no, you're probably good.
I disagree with that characterization. It's pretty great. It's the stuff around Halo/Cortana that was the problem in the 343i trilogy imo.
Good to know!As someone who played through it: No, not any more than everyone else will be. It will seem like you are missing a whole lot but people who played Halo 5 will feel exactly the same. It's a weird game in terms of storytelling. Maybe check out a wikipedia summary to know the basic setting and how Halo 5 ended, that's it. Nothing from any book or comic plays any role in this.

No you honestly really don't^^

I feel that's every story heavy franchise. Marketing always says "this is a good starting point for new players" and after about an hour the story dives into the deep end and is only parsable by the long time fans.Maybe watch a YT recap video? I know at least IGN's review suggested the story is perhaps not quite as newbie friendly as the devs have suggested.
I remember the Fall of Reach being legitimately good, but I read it when I was 14, I don't know how it would hold up now, 2 billion years later.
In case you DO want that context Halo Canon has a video:I've personally never been able to (or admittedly very interested in) following the lore of the Halo series. I did watch this recent GameSpot video:
The Complete HALO Timeline Explained!
The Halo Universe has one of the richest and densest mythos in all of gaming, and with Halo Infinite promising to build on all this lore, it can easily feel ...www.youtube.com
... and my takeaway is that it's a zany-fun universe that has a lot more quirkiness than I think the games openly acknowledge, lol.
That said, even with that primer I am going into Infinite with virtually no idea of what the post Halo 5 lore has covered in other mediums and what the status quo of the universe is as Infinite begins, and I'm okay with that.
I've played every mainline Halo game without a care in the world, so I'm just signing up for the gameplay again.
People like different things. Maybe for you it isn't a big deal. Maybe for OP they would like some context.I've played all of the Halo games, including Wars and Spartan Asssault and I only remember what happened in the first (which I finished like 5 times by now) ...
The story never was the reason to play these games any, so you will be fine.
